This place is a great quirky spot. Definitely something different! You seat in seperate curtained off areas on the floor and the place has a great ambience about it. The food is also great and very tasty. However the pricing is bizarre. All meals are the same and you have to ask the staff the price for that night?! Weird. For us everything was $25 whether having a vegie meal or meat loaded one! Strange and a little off putting - kind of feel ripped off that others could be paying less! However it is a unique experience and definitely one to give a go. There's not much in the way of unique eat outs like this.

The first restaurant I have been to that was so amazingly different to anything I've seen before! The staff are friendly, the food tastes great, the prices are affordable and the overall ambiance just makes you feel so relaxed.

Great place to go for an intimate dinner with the one you love or even a celebration with friends. You won't be disappointed!

There has definately been a decline in standards. I have had many meals here over the years but the last couple have been very disappointing. The atmosphere is still good but the food is now just poor and overpriced. I hope things change as this has been a very good restaurant in the past.

One of my favorite restaurants to dine at! I prefer it on a weekday though as the service can be terribly slow on a weekend :(. The best times I have had there are on a week day for sure. The staff are great when its not packed out.
A good place for younger people as it is quite loud and you have to sit on the floor but its so good especially for couples wanting a romantic dinner.
The cocktails are amazing and you can create your own from all the ingredients they have.
Definitely go and check it out!

I was very unhappy with this restaurant. The wait-staff were rude and I found the food to be of a very low standard. I don't understand how a salad and the octopus can both cost $22? The waitress recommended us a dish, neglecting to tell us it was very spicy (VERY spicy) and we struggled to eat it. The floor-seating and low table aren't great for tall people. The atmosphere was quite nice in the lounge. It was very busy, as everyone says, but the live music was good and the couches and cushions are a nice feature.

Unique atmosphere, used to take my friends there a lot, but the food standard has gone down quite, while the price has gone up a bit over the years. After a couple of bouts of food poisining now I never go there any more. I guess with the lights out you can't really see how rotten the food is on your plate. Anyway I'm suprised at how busy this place still gets.

A decline in food standards, yet it still gets busy. Better for the floor bar.

If the food were anywhear near as amazing as the surreal atmosphere of the restaurant and bar this place would be out of this world. Unfortunately it's not. Food tastes pre-prepared, mass churned out pub standard food. Completely disappointing. This place gets two stars though for creating an amazing atmosphere both in the restaurant and bar, where hidden tranquility is indeed an apt name.

You must come here, and bring all of your friends. With no signage, its very easy to walk by. It seems like this place is only known through word of mouth, so you will look very cool to all those who don't yet know about garuva. The food is good, but it really is the atmosphere you are going for. Private rooms, with dimmed lighting... Without spoiling it, you must go and see.

There are no other words, this place is just fantastic! The dining area is like a harem, the cocktail bar, like an opium den, but all very welcoming a relaxed. The service is prompt and there is a huge selection of dishes to choose from. Overall, a fantastic dining experience.

Though the tranquillity is hidden, the secret has long been out about Garuva, thanks largely to its novelty value and word-of-mouth recommendations. The imperative is for diners to come down to earth and “relax heart and soul”. Tables are shrouded from each other by sheer curtains and diners sit on cushioned rugs, with supported back rests, at low tables with dim lighting. Cuisine takes its cues from Japan, with clean flavours, and a long list of cocktails is on offer.
