Gary fixed a dripping laundry tap by replacing the taps - no problem there. We're now left with shuddering (water hammer?) in the pipes when we turn the taps on and off. We get the noise when the washing machine is in use, and when the toilet cistern finished filling up, as well as turning taps on and off. We've had Gary back to look at this, but his only advice is to turn the laundry tap off when not in use. I don't want advice on how to minimise the noise, I want the noise eliminated!

While the fixed laundery taps are good (as they should be for any half-decent plumber), the noise that he's left us with is unaccpetable. Would not use him again.

  The changes that they suggested have actually had a diffence, so I'll give them credit for this. However the fact that we need to turn the laundry tap off when not in use is not ideal - though, in the scheme of things, not the biggest problem to deal with.
