We attended the Backyard cinema held at Gasworks last night to see "The Social Network."
What an awesome idea! With two children I rarely get to see an Adult movie (by that I mean not a kids film.) as people often aren't very tolerant of a toddler unaware of the social taboo of talking while the movie is on but here there were children a plenty, just roaming about the grass before the film started and then my little one's ended up curled up on our picnic rug sleeping towards the second half of the film. Dogs were also welcome as long as they were kept on a lead. The gates open at 7.30pm and the films begin at dusk every Saturday until April. There was a little bar/snack vendor on-site which was great we had a few drinks and a picnic to enjoy while the film was on. I also read that if you ride your bike you get a discount on tickets which is a great incentive to get some exercise while helping the environment. The cinema provided mosquito repellent for those who were worried about bites. Though I didn't use any and didn't get bitten at all. I would recommend this to families, (depending on film classifications of course.) those who's dogs are part of the family and those that just want to enjoy their night under the stars.

Great cafe with room for the children to run. Lovely sheltered courtyard can get a bit hot in summer but perfect on a bright winter's day. The lamb burger is worth a try as are the omlettes.
