For a pub meal, this place is pretty good. it seems that some people expect a huge lot. pokie room is really small (which doesnt bother me too much) nice to eat your meal out the back in the sun when the weather is good. beer is a bit dear compared to bowling club prices but well worth it to escape the drunken classic bogans found haunting most of the local bowling clubs in the area. A nice refreshing change!
Went to this hotel for my birthday dinner, everything was going well until my (19week pregnant) sister was eating desert and noticed mould on it, took it back to the counter and asked them "is that mould" 3 staff members were present one replied 'yes it is, sorry heres your money". That was it. They were not caring at the fact that it was mouldy, one of them even admitted to checking before because it was made "last week". It made us all feel ill that we had eaten our main meals then to find this disgusting mould on the piece of cake. Pregnant or not, I feel that the lack of concern and action taken was extremely poor. We will never eat at the Gates Hotel again.
The foods not to bad but they really need to change their menu its been the same for far too long,,,,even the specials dont seem to change very often,,,
