Food was good however the service was disgusting. The wait staff were very rude after a gay couple showed affection to each other. The wait staff would not speak to my friend or his partner, once it was clear they were a couple. It was obvious enough that the entire table commented on it. I would never eat at this restaurant or recommend it again.
While the food is better than average I'm not sure I would go out of my way to go again. Service was pretty poor and decor very unkept which certainly does not add to the experience.
Gaylord's is definitely one of my favourite restaurants. While the atmosphere is not right for a romantic dinner, it is a great place to go with a group of friends. While the dishes are not as large at other restaurants, they are definitely filling, especially if you order entrees before the main meal. I will definitely be eating here again.
Like Camy's Shanghai Dumpling, Gylords has to be a Melbourne Chinatown institution. Be dazzled by the kitsch of the decor while you await a delicious meal that's sure to satisfy most palates.
Serving sizes are seemingly small, and maybe they are, but I find three dishes, with a naan and rice to be too much for three people, and is probably fit for four. Similarly, I recommend ordering just two dishes for three people. With naan and rice, it comes to about $17 pp.
The drinks are quite cheap, and, if I remember correctly, I think a glass of wine is about $3 or $4 by the class. Similarly, spirits are very well priced, too.
The service is very good and waiters and management alike are attentive.
