Reviews of Genoa Hotel

This pub is in need of some TLC but has an old world charm that rarely exists anymore. Meals are only open for dinner but the "Pub Grub" was superb. This place is not for everyone but if you like places with character it is worth a rest stop.

This old rundown derelict pub is a few hundred yards off the Princess Hwy in Genoa where the turn off to Mallacoota is. When we visited there was one uninterested person behind the bar doing crosswords serving and no customers. The hotel does not serve meals of a lunch time and is closed on Sundays. The mismatched bar stools are uncomfortable and the place smells of old alcohol, cigarettes and must and mildew. The outside is no better will some old derelict uncomfortable unpainted wobbly garden furniture to sit on or plastic seats with water in them.
There is no view except of a disregarded service station and old building opposite which is collapsing. The toilets where smelly, filthy and my husband said the water was turned off in the urinal, the womens toilets where no better. The pub has not seen a coat of paint for many decades and is painted drab grey. The takeaway beer and spirits is highly over priced compared to other outlets not far away on the Highway.. There are heaps better places to stay around this area as this hotel is far from anywhere also.
