I have been to this restaurant numerous times, and have loved the food and service every time. This time however, we took my parents out as a thank you for their help organising our engagement party and coming over from Perth to be there, and we had an awful experience.

We arrived at 2:45, were seated in the bar area and quickly chose our food. We ordered at 3pm. 2 schnitzels, one schnitzel burger and a hot dog. After a 45 minute wait, we enquired after our food. The waitress went to the kitchen to ask and when she returned, didnt come over to the table to give us our answer. After following up again, we were told it was being served now. 15 minutes later 3 of our meals came out. The schnitzels were stone cold and the burger was missing! After waiting 10 minutes, we enquired after the burger and were told, rudely, that it wasnt coming so we could have a refund. I said I just wanted the food as we were famished! So they organised the refund anyway. We sat waiting for the burger but when it came out, they sent it back to the kitchen! I went over to clarify and they said you got the refund because the burger wasnt coming out I replied with I dont care about the money, its 4: 15 and we are hungry! They said they'd get the burger back. After another 20 minutes we walked out.

I was so disappointed with this service because we were trying to thank my parents for their help and ended up with no food for my father. The rude service didnt help either; they didnt care about our experience. And to add insult to injury, as we were leaving, we saw senior staff sitting down to their hot kitchen-prepared lunches at the table next to us! We wont be going there again.

This place is well worth the drive from Adelaide. Have headed up the freeway numerous times just to go here. The restaurant out the back is fantastic with open fire, piano playing and warm cozy atmosphere. Excellent on a cold winters night.. the food is great, always try something different but fav's would have to be the massive burgers or the hot pot.. but no matter what we choose the one thing that makes it worth the trip is dessert.. No matter how full you get from your main, you have to have the Apple Strudel.. too good to miss.

We went there for lunch on a cold and wet Sunday and enjoyed great food in a warm and lively environment. The dining area is large, but not too cluttered and noisy. The staff are quick and attentive and the food was generous and tasty. The disappointment was the number of menu dishes and german beers that were unavailable. I had to go for my third choice on the menu.
