I had been going to the Ging's former incarnation- the Ging Wah for years when it closed for renovation. I really loved the Ging Wah, as did many Melburnians. The new Ging restaurant still has good food but it seems to vary a lot on the night. The staff were really great and it was a fun atmosphere but the food was not what I remembered it to be!

What use to be a great meal is now surrounded by rude, unprofessional attendants!

It felt more like I was eating at a fast food restaurant being hurried and ignored than a long term restaurant.

The staff were extremely unpleasant to deal with, my food was thrown in-front of me like it was an effort to just serve. Correct me if I am wrong, but customer service is about quality and pleasantries not ignorance?

This is one of Chapel St's better restaurants. Most of the food at Ging is excellent. The dumplings are not only reasonably priced but very very good.

The service is personal and friendly, and very efficient.

The portion sizes tend to be on the small side, and can be pricey - $18 for lemon chicken and $$18 for salt and pepper calamari, but the Chicken Chow mein at $16 is better value and very well made.
