Ginga Japanese Restaurant

Directions
Genuine Japanese cuisine with accommodating staff and a very unique authentic traditional appearance with a thatched grass interior. Order the standard favourites: tempura, sushi, sashimi, as well as more unusual dishes. Try Gyoza (a Japanese dumpling), or a fresh sashimi dish, before ordering Torikatza: a deep fried crumbed chicken fillet served with tonkatsu sauce, or nabe udon: prawn tempura, fish cake, vegetables and egg in a noodle soup.

Very generous portions. Wait times can be long even when not busy, but the quality is worth the wait. Decent selection range with below average prices. Service was impeccable (our waitress checked on our table no less than 7 times). Best restaurant I've been to in Brisbane in the last 3 months (which is how long I've been here).

I went to Ginga a few weeks ago with some friends, and was pleasantly surprised. There were a wide range of choices on the menu. Everyone (we had a party of 10) enjoyed their meals. I felt the food was affordable, with most mains being under $20.

Service was neither here nor there, and really didn't stand out (but wasn't bad!)

One frustrating thing about Ginga is they don't split the bill - which really frustrates me in this day and age where people pay for them self!

This place is very 'hip'. The service was provided by youthful Japanese girls who were very accommodating and cheerful. I chose plates off the sushi train. I felt the prices were above average for the quality of the sushi. The sushi was mediocre, unforgettable, however palatable.

I would not go out of my way to return.

Fantastic authentic food, great service with friendly and helpful staff (as long as you get a waiter that's been there a while - some of the new staff can be pretty bad), wait times are average and portions are very generous (this is reflected in the price) - so keep this in mind if you don't generally eat that much - the servings can be enough for 2 if both of you are small eaters.

the food was nice, and the prices we're ok. but i'll never spend another cent at this restaurant again after the way we we're treated by management. 0/10 for service & customer care, 5/10 food quality.

A rare gem which is actually staffed by Japanese people (as opposed to the many imitation Japanese restaurants out there). The portions are generous and I love the Katsu don and the curry. I love how they have Japanese drinks as well such as Calpis and Kirin beer. The sushi is fresh and appetizing. The staff are welcoming and always smiling and there is an efficient system going on - I have never waited over 10 minutes for my food even when many other guests are there.

Great value Japanese Restaurant with a choice of dining in the main restaurant or having something a little more on the cheaper side, but still great food!

Here, modern Japanese cuisine is served in contemporary surrounds. Choose from a private booth or dine alfresco at a pavement table overlooking South Bank Parklands. Sushi and sashimi are made fresh to order, and the menu, packed with more than 100 items, is easy to read, with English explanations for each dish. Try the teriyaki pan-fried gyoza, or the soft-shell crab sushi roll. Mains average: $12.
