Hawker food street cuisine

Ginger & Spice Singapore Restaurant is one of the best places in Sydney to sample hawker food.

Specialties are Nonya dishes: sambals , soupy, sour and aromatic assams, belachan and serai.

People who know anything about this type of cuisine would agree that this is the real deal with quality, value and sheer tastiness of the food consistently delivered time after time again.

Guess what they also do take away.

pretty good food. my sister lives inSingapore and we went together as she was craving it. almost authentic like Singaporean, the chilli prawns are really good (done in a style similar to the Singaporean Chilli mud crab).

i love the desserts - it has sago and palm sugar and is sweet and thick and coconutty.

the dishes are pretty expensive for an Asian restaurant, but it's worth it as you can't really get this type of cuisine short of going to Chinatown.

Take friends and share a variety of dishes for a good, tasty night out.

After more than a decade living in Sydney, I finally found what I would consider the best Asian-taste restaurant in this city.

The menu is very extensive. Served in generous portions, all of their food offerings are constantly fresh and have special taste which makes them unique to this place. You should try their Hainan steamed chicken with sweet soya sauce that you can enjoy along with your special chicken-flavoured rice.

They also serve mouth-watering desserts such as coconut milk jelly which you can hardly find elsewhere.

Don't forget to order iced lemon tea when you're there -- it is very popular they sometimes run out it!

Price wise, this restaurant is very good in value. This place is very full at times so I suggest you make a booking or come early to avoid waiting. You will find plenty of parking nearby, including on-street, council and nearby grocery shopping's parking -- and they are usually free after working hours.

Enjoy the spicy thrills of street food in a sophisticated setting.

Hard-core lovers of hawker food swear Ginger & Spice Singapore Restaurant is one of the best places in Sydney to sample street cuisine. The Neutral Bay eatery may be pricey but "you are not eating by a drain in 35-degree heat" as one fan commented on a website. Ginger & Spice Singapore Restaurant has a faux stone exterior, arches and testimonials plastered on the window, including a photo of a shy, smiling Tetsuya Wakuda, Sydney's three-hatted wonder chef.
