As local residents, we have been here 5 times, yet only stayed once. Staff who seemed too busy to serve us, and looked down their nose at us. Food was ok when we did get served, but the staff seem to think they are too cool. Probably not locals.

We came her from brunch on Mother's Day so you can imagine how full this place was. We surprisingly got a table straight away and was served immediately. The waiter was impeccable! I am used to waiting for menus, waiting to order, waiting for my food when places are as full as this was however i would not have known the difference. The waiter even took the time to tell us our meals were on the way (even though they arrived within 10 mins of ordering). As per Matt Preston's review, yes you must must must try the Syrian Toast! Cant wait to go back!!!

Gingerlee's feeling is simple but quite elegant in its understatement.

'You have to try the Syrian French toast at Gingerlee." "Or how about the corned beef sandwich at North Cafeteria? That's my favourite." The great thing about working out of a food-obsessed office is that new staff offer different takes on where's best to go. And given Melbourne's evolving culinary kaleidoscope that means a chance to discover places. In this case, the suggestions are a mark of quite how quickly things are moving up in the pumping culinary hub of Brunswick and Carlton North. For Gingerlee and North aren't six months old. We featured North shortly after it opened so you probably already know what it's about, but Gingerlee and the Syrian French toast beckon. It is a particularly fine dish but far removed from the nursery-soft French bread of some other places. Crunchy shards of buttery toffee-fried crusty French bread are stacked with yoghurt-honeyed labna.
