An easy walk from your cottage door is the fabulous Puffing Billy Steam Train in Belgrave, where you can travel through some of the most scenic mountains and countryside in the world from Belgrave to Gembrook. The local tavern-restaurant is a five minute walk so you can have a wonderful evening without having to drive anywhere.   Sherbrooke Forest, home to lyrebirds wombats and wallabies, is an easy walk. Wander along  magnificent walking tracks to the local deli where a cappuccino is waiting.  A short drive through fern shaded roads are all the attractions of the Dandenong s, and the Wineries of the Yarra Valley. 35 minutes from Melbourne, one hour from Melbourne Airport.

    We've stayed 4 times now each time in a different cottage. Each cottage has really unique special things about it, we can't wait to go back to try the 5th cottage, Tallow. The place is SO relaxing, a brilliant place to recharge, its a destination all of its own & so close to everything. We love the feel of the historic cottages with original antiques and the wild fragrant gardens. It recreates a peaceful, forever, feel of life as it was in the early 1900's with the added advantage of modern convenience like spas, air conditioners, DVD & music players etc. We don't use our car when we get there - we walk to the local village of Belgrave for cafes, restaurants, cinemas & browsing and use the forest walking tracks just outside the front gate to walk through the forest to Kallista and back. The sound of Puffing Billy along with the quietness of the surrounding forest takes us away into a special place in our hearts and minds.
