The funky Globe Cafe on Melbourne’s Chapel Street has been rolling along nicely for years, providing locals and visitors with coffees, breakfast, lunch, dinner and wine every day. Breakfast fare is classic, ranging from eggs to muesli. Lunch features caesar salad, Panini and risottos, while dinner ventures into slow braised chicken, grilled sirloin and linguini with red snapper. A tantalising display of cakes will test your willpower.

I used to go here all the time because it was near my work. But now I'm giving them one star for location only.
I ordered scrambled eggs on toast and a latte. I was in a rush. It was a new management and so the Italian breaky I used to get was no longer available. Bummer.
When I got my breaky, the scrambled eggs LOOKED really good. They probably WERE really good except the toast was absolutely burnt to a crisp. It was hidden under the eggs, but the first bite I discovered the secret burning. It permeated the eggs completely with an ashen taste.
I finished my coffee and ate no more.
I then went to pay. I handed over the money and said that I didn't eat the eggs because the toast was burnt. I was expecting to pay for the coffee only.
However, she took the money for the coffee and half for the eggs and said, I'm just charging you half. Half? I said, with my change in my hand, but I didn't eat half.
"Well, we'll make you another one." she said
"No, I have to go." I said.
I found it extraordinary that for the time it took to make a new slice of toast the cook ruined my breaky and then, for four dollars, they ruined my long standing good will with this place. (The eggs were $8). Bizarre.

Instant feel of relaxation as though I fit in and was accepted. Feels like a place where everyone gets along. Hippy style, laid back, comfortable, felt as though I had been coming there years with great service, and well priced food. Some things on the menu were unavailable which was a little disappointing however, the food was lovely once arrived on good timing and the waiter remembering which order belonged to each patron.
