Simply awesome - only draw back is that it's too small and like "fishchips" review, it's always packed. So you do need to book even during the week. Start with the namesake Goeman rolls. Simply the best tasting Sushi rolls I have ever tasted, and I have tasted a few. They have soft shell crap centres, wrapped in Salmon and rice, topped off with avocado, simply divine.

For main I like to go Karaage chicken or Wagyu Beef.which comes perfectly sliced and cooked and marinated to perfection. Looking at what the other customers select, all I know is that they are never disappointed and like me, come back every time.

Lost a star for being cramped in.

The sashimi is exquisite and the seafood hotpot is pristine. The friendly atmosphere is a bonus.

Only very serious threats will make me reveal my source for this restaurant. Mosman locals know it well and guard the secret of the Goemon Sushi Cafe jealously. They also patronise it wholeheartedly. On a Saturday night, by 7.30pm when we arrive, the noise is at happy hysteria level. To be fair, the room is small and filled with groups of friends and families, with children dotted among them. They are clustered around the red laminated tables under the mint-green wall. We're on dark wooden tables under the red wall. Still, you have to feel pretty comfortable in any restaurant to be throwing back your head and roaring at the jokes being made by diners at the next table. This kind of bonding doesn't take place by accident. The comfortable friendliness is a combination of laid-back service and food so good, it makes you smile. The chef is Yuji Otani and his wife, Susan, is our waiter. She greets and seats us, deftly negotiating the narrow spaces between the tables and chair...
