This is a weird place. A small hotel in a far eastern suburb of Melbourne with five star rooms at three star prices. It is in an area with not much else on offer accomodation-wise. The hotel rooms are sizeable and modern and it is hard to fault the decor.

Unfortunately the baths are very slippery and on one visit I cut myself badly falling over after a shower. This was met with indifference by the front desk who reluctantly produced a Band-Aid plaster as I bled on their marble floor. In the end it took four plasters to cover the wound. On other visits the front desk staff were great. Go figure!

The hotel has been known to have inoperative air-conditioning and to run out of hot water (presumably to save money) but it is one of very few respectable hotel/motels at a good price in the Boronia area so I have stuck with it.

The restaurant has gone through various changes of hands (its a franchised operation) and the "Italian" operation (now gone) went downhill from good to terrible over a period of time (mouldy pizza bases etc. latterly).

The problem with Chinese restaurants is they usually cannot maintain standards, and they get sold frequently. It is important to date your reviews.

This restaurant was first class when it was first opened, then went down badly as Philly commented. Now, Jan 2012, it is called "Peninsula" and it is actually quite good. The food is tasty, the service very good, and the place is very comfortable and spacious, unlike 99% of Asian restaurants, but I wish the waiters could be clothed better, ie cleaner or tidier.

They used to have really good and affordable yum cha at this hotel's restaurant. But eversince the restaurant part of the hotel became Eurochino, the quality and presentation of food has gone down and the price has gone up. When I commented to a staff member that the pork had a funny smell, she just shrugged it off and said "It's normal" and walked away. So overall: bad food, lousy presentation, over priced and teribble service. A real pity as my family used to love their yum cha and eat there at least once a month.
