I really didn't think much of this place. I'm not sure why but sometimes you wander into a pub and you simply don't like the vibe, and this was the case when I walked into this place. It wasn't as if it was too flash or high class, and it wasn't as if the staff were all that rude either, but something about this place really didn't do all that much for me. The bistro does amazing food, especially during lunch on weekdays! This place does get pretty packed on weekends, and is much nicer during the day than it is at night. They also offer great beers / ciders on tap and show live coverage of many sporting events!
Went here on a Saturday night for a night out and it went off!! The place was absolutely fantastic and the live music was amazing!! After the band left the DJ put on some great tunes, particularly the rnb/hiphop hits from the 90s! It's packed, but everyone is really friendly and sensible.
Apparently the Golden Sheaf is infamous for a good night out in Double Bay. However when stepping foot in here last Friday night, it seems as though it has settled down a bit with heaps of families and kids seated enjoying dinner. With the bar inside an eating area outside, it?s nice to head here on a night when it?s not raining so you can enjoy your meal in peace. Lastread more
I visited the Sheaf on Saturday and hadn't been to the establishment since the recent renovations. I was blown away at how fantastic it looks and had a brilliant night. The live band playing was great and it is such a well thought out space. I will consider going there again next time I go out. The food is still amazing and they have the b est steak!#reviewtowin
Wow put this place on the bucket list. Sunday afternoon lunch, wine and outdoors = perfection. Make sure you try the steak with a risotto rosti, its one of the best I've had ($28), and the portion size should fill you up. The crowd is Eastern, which makes the experience rather nice.
