The Golden Sheaf Hotel is an institution in Double Day. Providing a consistently enjoyable pub experience, this establishment has benefited from extensive renovations that have enabled it to maintain its original façade whilst benefiting from a contemporary interior. There are four bars on site that range from the laid back public bar to the more sophisticated soda and deck bar. The latter is known for its entertainment, with DJs spinning their records, whilst patrons order from the extensive wine and cocktail list.

This place can get really crowded on a Saturday night! it's huge and has a great outdoor garden. Drinks are cheap and the food is really great too

I love this place for a catch up for a beer with the mates and have a feed the food is pretty good a tad pricey though. You walk into this place and it is a pretty big venue but that just adds to the atmosphere, awesome on a nice summery weekend

I have seen the sheaf change alot over the years, always for the better too, great place to come in summer on a warm day to enjoy a beer and steak in the beer garden, the food is a bit over priced for the portion size but I can forgive them as this place has been part of my life for a long time and I have had some great times here as have a lot of other locals I'm sure. so many areas and entertainment to please all. go check it out.

The Golden Sheaf has changed from a small and bustling suburban pub to a full blown multi-use, multi-function entertainment complex. The great interiors and individual areas make this a great venue for your birthday, engagement party, or even just the casual drink :)

I love the upstairs themed rooms, the cute and helpful bar star and even the mighty food ( which is great for a pub lunch )!

Make sure you take a visit to the Sheaf.

The Sheaf is a Sydney institution, and a must-see spot for locals and visitors alike. The place attracts everyone from older men watching sport on one of the many screens in the front bar, to young party goers on a saturday night. Its popularity warrants the huge size of this place - it has two levels and many different areas to cater to the masses. My favourite spot for an afternoon beer with friends is the beer garden out the back, but head there on any Friday or Saturday night and I think the rooftop bar area is probably you're best bet. As day fades into night, a younger crowd will start filing through the doors and the dance floor will start to fill up. They usually have a DJ on the dance floor on the ground level, as well as one upstairs in the area that I think is known as Soda Bar. The food here is also great - their burgers are a good bet, but I usually go the sheaf's famous lamb salad with pine nuts, pumpkin and fetta - it is consistently awesome. Oh, the other thing you should know is that you can't go to this place without bumping into somebody you know - everybody in Sydney seems to love the Sheaf.

The first thing to hit you when you walk into "the Sheaf" is the size of it. This place is huge!
Such a big space and it's used so well to cater to so many different types of people... It really does have something for everyone.
My personal favourite is the deck bar. Such a large upstairs area ideal for a beer on a warm day! But on a cold and wet winters day, you'll find me in the sports bar having a bet!

The crowd is young and hip and exceptionally good looking (myself excluded) and they're there almost every night of the week (and both days over the weekend).
So often I drive past on a Wednesday night to see people spilling in/out from/to New South Head road.
If you're ever stuck for somewhere to meet a friend, have a drink or great meal during the week, this is definitely the place to do it (if you enjoy being surrounded by good looking people).

Boasting one of Sydneys biggest beer gardens the Golden Sheaf is the place to be on summer weekends.

Their menu given they are a only pub is definitely worthwhile trying. The chick pea & pumpkin salad with mint & parsley, dukkah and grilled haloumi ($14), Sheaf Burger with fries ($15) and the chilli beef and red bean hot pot with tortillas, jalapeno and sour cream ($15) are among my favourites.

There are several different bars in the sheaf the deck bar, the back bar and the sports bar ensuring that there is something to suit everyones tastes. The sports bar is not dissimilar any other front bar in the country. You will find men punting, drinking beer and watching sport left right and centre. Whereas when you move upstairs and onto the deck bar and you are immersed in a tranquil yet refined ambience where you can listen to smooth tunes all day/night.

I went to Golden Sheaf for the first time on New Years day. I have to say I felt very behind the times, I have been hearing about this place for years, ever since I turned 18 it feels like, but I had never made it until this year. I understand they went through a pretty extensive renovation not that long ago and it does present very well. We sat outside in the beer garden, and even though it was a very hot day, under the shady trees we were very comfortable.

You order your food and drinks at 2 different counters, and then sit down and wait. I didnt order any drinks, but the reports brought back from my family were not good. They said the bar staff were very snobby, not friendly and not very helpful at all. However the food arrived fast, and was really excellent. They have a lovely diverse menu, so everyone will friend something they like here and it is quite reasonably priced, considering you are in Double Bay! I had the fish and chips, which was crisp and fresh, perfectly seasoned, with a great tartare sauce. We had hand cut chips which were nice, but I would have preferred the shoestring fries my nephews got with their meals, so if that is your preference too, I would request those next time.

They also would not serve us tea and coffee, which considering there is a massive coffee machine on the bar seems a bit ridiculous. One said they had no milk, but the other said they would serve all the other drinks first before making coffees, which we thought was pretty rude, but they did tell us to go and buy coffees and a caf and bring them in, which is exactly what we did! Not sure how the owners would feel about that on a regular basis

An archly stylish, vampy space, with low lighting, private alcoves and windows draped by black velveteen curtains.

WOOOP! Wooop! Wooop! The beautiful people alarm is ringing loud and clear as I walk into the Soda Bar — which is fine with me; it certainly beats the ugly people alarm. Still, it's not every day you walk into a room and are rendered mute by the sheer physical perfection of the specimens before you. And to make things worse, they're all half your age. It's sad. Thank God I am in a bar.
