My sister (who is mentally disabled) had been using good life gym in KINGSWAY. She paid our her contract, $300 and something dollar... soon after she received a bill from "debit success" for $118. After this debit success said that everything had been paid in full. Payments continued to wi withdrawn from my sister account. My sister is on a disability pension, and lives by a week to week basis. Each of these withdrawals caused her account to go into negative~ which meant she was then slugged with fees from her bank.

The account had been paid out several months ago however she is still being charged for membership. Goodlife shifted the blame to debit success (who act of the behalf of goodlife).... however according to debit success the issue was sorted out some time ago. My bother called the manager and informed her that this was not acceptable, she said she would only talk to me sister. My mother informed her that she is mentally ill. The manager was extremely rude!
Basically it seems thats your locked into payments even after the contract finishes or is paid out.

The facilities are great. The management is the WORST!!!!! I signed up for 20 personal training sessions and the management who was meant to train me cancelled on me twice in the first week then when i tried to contact them i got no response. Instead they sent another trainer to come and train me without even asking my goals. Very unprofessional. Besides that the friendliness of the staff is touch and go. If it wasn't close to home and the facilities were bad I'd move on. Management really is terrible....

I found this gym quite nice. They have a very nice little cardio theatre, a cool spin studio and best of all, a spa in the ladies' change room. The downside is that you have to go up and down stairs as everything is spread over several levels, can be very annoying if you leave something in your locker and have to go back for it. I've never been a member so can't comment on prices or contracts.

Don't even walk in, please, just refuse to give it the time of your day. I had a very similar experience with them as J_ay did, it's true that "management" and "customer service" is just plain laughable at this place. Their facilities are good, but I would be wary of joining just because it's clear that they thrive on doing everything they can to get you to sign on. I thought I'd signed an expression of interest until I received a call four months later for the first time from these people saying they'd referred me to a debt collector for a membership I never activated or started or wanted or agreed to. Horrible establishment, I've been a part of four different gyms in four different cities on three different continents and I have never experienced anything like this, nor do I ever expect to again.

I must admit. On first look at the gym I was quite impressed. The Irish lad who talked me through all the different rooms and equipment was very friendly and enthusiastic. I had no hesitation joining on a 6 month membership. Which they admittedly tried to get me on their fortnightly payment deal but I paid 6 months upfront, in which they also gave me an extra month free of charge. I got on the track to getting a personal trainer through the gym and it's been great. I've lost 28 kilograms in 3 months and am on track of hitting my target weight. All thanks to Goodlife. I however think the staff do not offer personal assistance to any of their members, so if you know what you're doing, this is the gym for you. If you have no idea and this is your first gym, I would say find somewhere else with better staff/client interaction. The equipment is good. Not great but good.

The facilities are good. The management is terrible in my opinion. They made it extremely hard to cancel a membership, by avoiding and not returning my calls. Then they added wrong and additional charges to cancel. Then they refused to discuss them and passed my account onto debt collector. For an initial bill of $35 they were asking $120, and eventually asking for $250 with all the late and penalty fees.

1.5 years later Consumer Affair Victoria resolved the dispute for me. I paid $35.

They are terrible. Do not join.

I have been a member of this gym for about 6 months and been very disappointed.

On the positive, there is a good Group Fitness and Spin timetable with some really great instructors. The gym also has extended opening hours.

On the negative, the major problem is overcrowding (from 5:30pm until about 8pm). Accessing weights (especially benches, pulley machines) or finding space to stretch is a real issue (I have never seen anybody use a swiss ball in this gym where would you put it!). However, there is lots of cardio equipment (although not much variety e.g. no step machines) so that is not a problem.

The equipment is fine, although there is nothing special (e.g. no kettle bells, stretch bands, medicine balls etc) other than a boxing area.

The reception staff are friendly and the gym has member appreciation days where they give you a free banana.

The setup on the gym floor is not ideal. There is not a dedicated trainer on the floor with the responsibility for answering questions etc, instead the floor trainer are always with a client doing a program. If I have had an issue on the floor (e.g. equipment broken or missing, want a reminder on how to use something) there is nobody to ask at all.

The gym has a great entertainment system, including individual Foxtel screens on each cardio equipment and a music stream. Although, I note that the connection on these seems to break from time to time particularly in the upstairs cardio room.

This gym is great and carries a nice atmosphere! The equipment is quite new and there is enough of it so that you aren't waiting around for ages to use a machine. All of the cardio machines, with exception of the rowing maines, have tv sreens and a small selection of pay tv chanels. The gym does get busy during peak gym times such as after work. The staff are friendly enough and it's one of the cleaner gyms i have attended.

I was very disappointed by the level of service given by the Hunts gym staff when I was enquiring about membership. It seemed like they were only interested in signing me up rather than why I was there. I would not recommend this gym and will not return
