Located at the rear of a nineteenth century French Provincial-style building in the centre of town, The Grand Bar and Brasserie invites you to experience its culinary delights, comfortable bar, professional service and genial atmosphere.

The Bar sits in the refurbished Grand Hotel building which was built in the 1880s, and despite the complete rebuild of its interior in the 1980s, the Grand Bar still retains the friendly feel of a "local" with its charming wood panelling and interesting historical memorabilia.

The cuisine offered at the brasserie is best described as Modern Australian. The brasserie has a seasonal a la carte menu, as well as a daily blackboard, featuring new flavours and fresh seafood.

The establishment, which is fully air-conditioned and has reasonable restrictions on dress, trades until late each night. Choose from seven beers on tap, a wide range of imported and local bottled beers, spirits, cocktails and wines.

Brasserie - Haven't had a bad meal here. Most recently the roast vegetable stack which is lovely. Quiet location & the Bar is just a few steps away.
Bar - A recent change in the bar food menu has been met with good reviews. A small bar in comparison to other hotels in Bowral which is more intimate & cosy. Recommend.

A few years ago the brasserie was a fantastic restaurant with some wonderfully cooked yet often simple dishes made from quality ingredients (eg the fish, chips & salad). Recent experiences have been that "satisfactory" is now the norm for the food whilst the service is variable. The location is great in an interesting, refurbished old building.

I can never complain about the food here, although sometimes it is better than others.
An excellent wine list with so many available by the glass.

The only problem is the changing staff and their attitude. They open at 6. I have stood outside in the cold at 5 to, but was not allowed in till the dot. I have seen another customer who sat at a table in an empty restaurant and was abused because she did not ask to be positioned.

I have also obtained a beer at the bar next door and sat down at the tables outside at 5:45, just to be told that was not allowed, and I should go into the bar of the hotel. I refused to take my 10 year old son into the public bar!!

A pity the whole experience is occasionally spoiled by lack of customer focus.
