I wish these guys would open on Mondays. Meat-free Monday would be so much easier... Hint... :)

This was truly the worst dining experience of my life! I found a piece of human hair in my food with the first bite. I wasn't going to say anything but my friend found hair in her plate too...when we reported it they accused us of having placed the hair in our own food! We had to leave our uneaten meal and go to the RSL down the road - but not before they insisted that we pay for our starters. Needless to say we will NOT be going back.

It's so great to find a vegetarian restaurant that has food delicious enough and filling enough to suit a meat lover! The not-beef in black bean sauce and crispy skinned not-chicken meals were tasty enough to suit me and my friends. I can't wait to go back here! The meals also suit vegans, so there is definitely something here for everyone.

Meat and alcohol are replaced by Taoism, healthy dishes and vibrant tastes at this St Leonards haven.

My blood pressure is perfect, my GP told me last week. I'm still waiting for the results of my cholesterol test to discover the cumulative impact of dining out about 250 times in the past 12 months. I was needing respite when a colleague recommended Green Gourmet, a Chinese vegan restaurant that began in Newtown and now has a branch on the highway in St Leonards. He's a coeliac (wheat intolerant) and the menu denotes wheat-free dishes. It also avoids cooking with onions, garlic and leek, which apparently do naughty things to the body, including provoking lust, as explained at the back of the seven-page menu. Green Gourmet's Taoist approach eschews alcohol, too, with a range of green and herbal teas instead. Oriental Beauty ($4.20 a pot), a Taiwanese blend of oolong and rose, suffices. It's the restaurant equivalent of a health retreat but this is no boot camp. It's a welcoming place of fresh, colourful and occasionally lively flavours. The vegetables glisten like gems, crisp a...
