My experience here with them over 8 months ago was a disaster. It was a public holiday and our pet of 12 years was not well. I am not a vet / doctor so I relied on what they told me needed to done. The animal presented as not eating or drinking for 2 days. After a consult and blood test they gave the Little girl a shot and sent of us home advising they would forward the results to our normal vet. My cost for this treatment was over $500. They did not send the report to my vet, till we pressed Green cross to send the information. Our vet on reviewing the service provided said she would normally charge between $120 to $160. I know it was a public holiday and I was prepared to pay for the loading and associated charges. But three times more than normal. Will never return.

I would like to say the vets at Greencross Woolloongabba are absolutely fabulous. They recently took my dog Madison over night she needed x-rays after being hit by a car. they looked after her so well and when i went back the next day to pick Madison up they thoroughly explained what had to happen next. I left feeling so much better then when we dropped her off and with out any confusion or questions. We then received a text message a few days later asking how Madison is doing at home. I thought this was a nice personal touch. Also its not just the veterinary doctors that were kind and help full ALL THE STAFF from the receptionist who first took my panicked call about my dog being hit by a car but also the doctors who did the x-rays and looked after her they all played a huge part in my experience at this vet. It is not our local vet surgery but it is definitely worth traveling to. I highly recommend them to everyone.

My little guy Billy has been going to the Vet Surgery at Woolloongabba Greencross for a couple of years and my Husband and I are extremely happy with the vets there. We also use the dog groomer and they are kind gentle ladies and Billy loves going. All the dogs run around and play together in the grooming room and he always comes home happy (but exhausted from playing). I would recommend anyone to go there for vet care and great grooming

Dog left with a 30 * 10 cm bloody graze after attending dog groomers.
I went in a spoke to Green Cross dog groomers prior to our appointment. I was happy with them, though on the day, it seems we did not get the lady I had spoken to. The staff were friendly, though overly concerned with getting all our details for their data base, rather than talk to us about the reason we were there to get our dog groomed for the first time. I reiterated the point we were there to have Charlie groomed for the first time. They asked what sort of groom we wanted. I said I really was not sure, I wanted something that would look simple and sensible however it was coming into tick season, so he needed to have short hair.

    1. He looks absolutely ridiculous, he has been given a buzz cut all over his body, not leaving any of his natural definition, or wings as some people refer to them. I think for $49, they should have been experts and done a better job than this.

    2. He was completely traumatised by the event he has hidden in the back of corners for days after coming home. Other people have told me subsequently this can happen. I do not thin the vet/groomer is responsible for this - I was not aware, and wish I had stayed there for the procedure to comfort him.

    3. When I picked him up, the groomer (different to the one I had iniially dealt with) spoke to me in a scary way, like she was a prison warden. I expected her to have a loving personality, she was gruff and harsh. She said the dog had been itching like crazy, and what was wrong with him. I said that he was not itching when I brought him, but his breed naturally has itchy skin (we feed him fish oils and occasionally have to give him medicine to calm him down). I got him home and found he had a 30 * 10 cm bloody graze. I spoke to a friend and she told me the grooming experience makes her dog itchy and the groomer puts cortisone cream on the dog. This groomer was at Green Cross vet, why could she not have done the same thing? I left my dog in their expert care?

I rang up the vet to share with them my disappoint about this experience, and their response was no worries. I shall avoid this vet in future; I think they spend more on advertising than on training their staff.

Mmm.....To make a valid complaint is one thing.....but some of your comments are bordering on nasty. My Husband and I are perplexed at how your experience can be so different from ours after 1 visit and we have been using these groomers for 2 years. The Lady who grooms and her daughter are polite, friendly and seem to genuinely love all the dogs in their care. I find the "prison warden" comment unfair and untrue.

The team at Greencross Vets at the gabba provide excellent service and also stock a good selection of quality pet food (including Hills Science Diet) and accessories. They also have a hydrobath on-site and will trim claws (which is great when you have a dog like ours!).

Greencross Vets are open 7 days, however they do charge extra for for consultations on Sundays and after-hours.
