Sunny days bring people out to Glenelg to enjoy the fine food and dining. Given today was a perfect 24 degrees we decided to head down to the bay to put Gringo's Mexican Cantina to the test.
A great little location just around the corner from the busy Jetty Rd strip, and a nice sea breeze flowing in i was looking forward to the experience to grow.
I decided to start with a Nachos Platter for two, at $24?!?! Uh oh!
Anyway, OK.... I'll have a coffee with that order,.. whats that you say? its going to take 20 Min's for the coffee machine to get warmed up enough? ... its a Saturday 12noon and you have not done that already?!?!. Simply, really poor and not up to scratch.
Service, was very poor, staff walked around inspired, and acted like they didn't want to be there, and after looking at the menu i was kinda wishing the same thing.
Over priced basic food, to the point of ridiculous !
Oh, 20 Min's later i got my coffee, only to find it wasn't even in a nice size cup, looked more like a shot glass.
A very poor dining experience, i would not recommend this place, not good value and not good service.

Very casual dining, tasty colourful food, margaritas are great, great for a sunny lunch meal. But do not recommend going there for any special dinner occasion. no dessert menu, uncomfortable indoor dining and below average service. Staff were not at all enthusiastic or could crack a smile while it was obvious we were celebrating a happy birthday occasion on a quiet friday night.

I returned after many years to find that Gringos hasn't changed a bit. The burritos are still huge and tasty and the margaritas are still good. Even though it was packed (people were getting turned away) we didn't wait long for our meals.

a great way to spend a warm day, with a corona and a massive bowl of nachos. the food is fresh and simple, and delivered with a friendly service. the fajitas is a great shared meal for both kids an adults, and the salsa is gorgeous.

Great tasting Mexican food, right on the doorstep of the beach at Glenelg. Sangrias are to die for...great atmosphere, menu selection, prices and service. Perfect for that summer's day dinner.

This place is ALWAYS busy so be sure to book a table! The food is good and the margheritas are even better! It's not very big so not suitable for large functions.

If you like Mexican, you will enjoy a meal at Gringos. Much better than their competitor down the road. We went recently for a birthday celebration and enjoyed a casual night out. The Sangria is very good also! Suggest you get into the Mexican theme and order a carafe...or two. Only downside was that they would not take a booking for 4 over the phone, and when we got there, no tables were available. It was a nice night, so we went for a walk, but on a cold or wet night, this would be a problem.

small little mexican restaurant right near the beach, love the Con Quesa dip, their meals are large and a great mexican restaurant, try the Margaritas, also for a kick the Sangria packs a bit of a bite!
