My experience with Gurneys started off well, and then ended with me not being even slightly pleased. I first had to get the Water Pump on my car replaced. Gurneys are a part of the warranty network I got free with my car, so I thought I would give them a go, due to their proximity to my house. They did the work promptly and well. No complaints with that.
A short while later I had to get some other major engine work done. Following on from my previous good experience it seemed like it would be the wise choice. It wasnt.
They had my car for a period of 6 weeks. A long time. A massive amount of time. Upon contacting them during the time, they said no work was being carried out due to absent staff and other delays. After a month I decided to stop by and see what was actually being done. The car was up on the lift, with the front off. Great. Finally! Something was being done. Ill get it back soon! Nope. Delays. Constant delays. Parts to be ordered in. Then they didnt order something else. So another delay. Constant 2-3 day delays for the last 2 weeks. But I finally got the car back. Price on the work was reasonable and acceptable.
But, a day later, my car beeped at me. I called to see their thoughts and they said Top up the fluids and if it happened again bring it back. That was a Friday afternoon. Monday morning it was back in their shop. Another 2 days where they fixed a coolant leak (which would have caused my troubles in the first place). They fixed it, and said as I walked out the door Dont take this the wrong way, but I hope we dont see you again. Oh how I wish that was so. The next week the car was on the back of a tow truck, taken back to Gurneys. A broken hose. A simple fix they solved in a short amount of time.
Since picking it up from them the 3rd time, the car still isnt right. Another mechanic will have to get involved to get the car back to how it should be. I could take it back to Gurneys but I dont want to deal with them anymore.
