While I have been mostly happy with the cut and colour that I get here, the service has become terrible. I have had to wait 10-15 minutes after my appointment time to be seen and then made to wait with dripping hair while the hairdresser does someone else hair in my appointment time. I understand that they may have to do this occasionally but something like this has happened every time I have been there this year. The worst experience was when I arrived on time to be told they were running 30-45 minutes late and did I want to reschedule, they hadn't even called me before hand to save me coming in. I will not be returning. -

I have been going here for years. They did my re-tint too dark on my regrowth a couple of months ago and they charged me to fix it up a couple of weeks after but I thought I would give them another chance as I had been a loyal customer for years.
I asked for my regrowth and some foils (like I had gotten done a few visits earlier) The Management obviously wasn't listening to me, and they almost just put in some blonde foils (I had the blonde foils the time before to FIX there problem) I advised I wanted Blonde, copper and brown. The Management then said I should only get blonde and copper in my blonde hair.
The hairdresser only put 1 or 2 blonde and about 7 Copper. The foils were too thick, uneven and I looked like a TIGER and my hair looked orange. My family and friends could not believe how bad it looked. I had to fork out $50 getting it fixed at a different hairdresser the following day. My new hairdresser could not believe that a professional hairdresser had put in the foils and said it was uneven, the copper was too bright and it just simply looked horrible.
I will NEVER go back.. The management was directing staff on what to do!!! This place has gone downhill. -

I was happy with my service here, the style was great, the atmosphere was great. Until my hairdresser left. Then I was asked to give another one a try, so I did. They ruined my hair cut! They could not replicate my previous funky fun style, and they ruined my fringe. I kept saying, cut it straight, cut a straight line... the staff kept snipping bits of hair and refused to do a straight cut like I asked. When I phoned the management, they couldn't care less that they new the stuffed up my cut! Needless to say I will never go back there again, waste of time and money!! -

I have only recently moved to the area and am glad to say I was really impressed to find such a sophisticated salon in the Blue Mountains! My appointment was with Laura and she made me feel totally comfortable from the minute I walked in. I left with the choppy funky hair I have wanted for the last 6 months and needless to say I will be visiting again! -

My experiences at Hakuna Matatas have always been that of a warm, friendly and a creative team. As self confessed once-a-week blowdry queen, I find their service to be the best in the area and the prices are very reasonable. I have my hair coloured by Bec, and on the various ocasions I've been styled by other staff I have still been very pleased with the result. I would recommend Hakuna Matatas to anyone who enjoys friendly service, a great product and a stellar head massage!
