Reviews of Helm Bar

  • This is a good location, and the atmosphere inside is pretty good. Range of food and drinks is the same as anywhere in darling harbour. I wasn't a fan of the door charges to get in. Wouldn't go back after that.
  • Apart from the amazing views (depending on the seat you get), the vibe, drinks, food and service are all excellent. Not the cheapest, but definitely worth it.
  • Its a good bar at a fantastic location, overlooking the water from the harbour. But inside the bar is nothing special. Good range of drinks, service was okay.

Lots of heating out on the deck and a good mix of age groups. Lots of seats with a view and a great menu if you enjoy a real cheese board. Ask for jug prices here.. Buy a jug of cider at the price of two schooners. We did. Great music too, a good starting place for a Saturday night and three screens with sports as well as a TAB area
  • This place is a great location, but bar is pretty ordinary.
  • I spent one late night here in December with some colleagues. I thought it was great. I loved the view and the server was quite attentive. A bit crowded on that night but no worries about that. Worth checking out.

Great place with a great view! With a splash of king street wharf & cockle bay wharf Helm is great place to welcome the weekend for after 5 drinks (although can get a little pretentious), lunch with friends or enjoy a dinner for 2 on the balcony with the city lights & harbour as your backdrop. Reasonably priced for such a prime location & a menu that should satisfy any foodie. Friendly & professional staff & overall lovely place to chill & take in Sydney.
  • Amazing place!
It has a great venue and a great view. I like that it's located near one of the busiest parts of the city so there are a lot of people passing by. Other than that the place is spacious- gives the opportunity to have parties with friends. Prices are average and the staff are polite and welcoming. I really like the fact, that the bartenders are really professionals so they offer a lot of drinks.

I have been to helm bar a few times and i have enjoyed each time i went it can get pretty packed but if you get there early enough for the good real estate ( on the balcony) you are a distance away from the speakers so you can at least speak to your mates without screaming. Overall music is good and it is just a nice hangout in the city

I was warned not to expect too much from Helm, so I was glad to have walked in without high expectations.

It's a pretty basic bar with average decor - it looks like pretty worn and tired. The ladies toilets smelt pretty bad, there was no soap, no paper towels and no working hand dryer.

We ordered a kilo of prawns, and while the prawns were fresh and tasty, there was less than half a kilo in the small bowl they served it in.

The staff are polite and friendly and food (other than the prawns) were served quite quickly. We only ordered chips and wedges as we were heading out to dinner after our drinks. Beer was super cheap, something like $13 for a jug.

I had a good night because of the company I was with, and it is a good spot for some drinks before/after a meal because of its location in Cockle Bay Wharf.
