Called them about one of their vehicles and asked when they would be closing up so we could come down and view a car they had advertised. Drove over 1hr to get there and arrived 30mins before they said they were closing up - however the place was completed locked up with no one around. Tried calling their mobile number which we'd got them on before and it was switched off.
Understandably arriving only 30mins before closing meant it would have been hard to take it for a test drive, but we were prepared to just have a look and see if its worth coming back at another time for a proper test drive. Pretty poor that they'd advised customers of their closing time and then decided to close at least half an hour early. Completely wasting our time.
And from reading the previous reviews on here, I doubt we'll be making the effort to go back.
About 4 Months ago me & my husband were looking for a little car in our price range for us and our unborn child due in 2 weeks. We happily searched the internet and found humbug engineering. We looked at the cars and they didn't look at all very bad. so The next day I finally found one we wanted and so we drove 2 1/2 hours to Humbug engeneering in Lakemba. After speaking 3 times to the staff on the phone they were very kind and answered all my questions. When we got there we should have known not to buy from there seeing that the car in front had to be jump started when they were moving it but we thought nothing of it and stupidly bought it.About a week later i tried to accelerate and the car breaked and when i breaked it accelerated in front of a semi-trailer truck 7 1/2 months pregnant. We had paid warranty and insurance and all that and the staff had said it was their family car. We thought oh we'll give it a chance. We took it to our mechanic and they had told us it had been lowered 3 times as i asked them why it scrapes when we drive they said the tires had not been changed and were bald. The tranmission was a 100% failure and theres not even second hand ones for that car. They told us our warranty did not cover even though we were told it would. We were told it only ran smoothly because it looked like the staff at humbug had oiled up everything so it lasts us to test drive and so on.Its now on its way to the wreckers and I am absolutely disgusted at the fact they could do this to any person especially when they knew it was my only option to get to a hospital.Good luck with car hunting.I'm now buying a beautiful car from Mazda.
well i am back on the road and the guy from humbug has been more than helpful he took the car back and straight to the mechanic to sort out whatever the problem was. The problem was found and fixed. He even drop the vehicle off to my house.all in record two days. now fingers crossed. He really went the extra mile and i won't hesitate to buy more cars and also recommend him to my friends.
humbug is professionally run business and someone you could count on.
just bought the car and the next day it broke down. !!
even asking them of the dealership if everything was OK i was told i took the car for a ride it was idling high even when it was warm,i asked was it normal and they said yes it is just a normal operation. i bought the car on trust from humbug. i driven the car yesterday just locally for about 10 km and on the return trip home complete loss of power it wouldn't accelerate. spend over an hour looking and inspecting the car have some mechanical knowledge.. so much for the assurance of the dealer!!
Hi, I recently purchased a car from humbug engineering for my partner. After much searching around we thought we found the perfect one and were told how good it has been running, how reliable it is and what a great price. Since purchasing this car it has been plagued with problems,in and out of mechanics and im am very dis-satisfied with this. I understand most used cars have a few problems,it is to be expected when purchasing, but this is horrible and we have spent as much fixing the car up as it costed to buy. I would highly reccommend any person thinking about purchasing a vechile from here to organise a mechanic to join you on your inspection. I have will also be forwarding this comlaint to the dept of fair trading.
Hello, I have been searching for a reliable used car for a while now and was looking at the trading post online and noticed a car that met my specific needs. When i called Humbug Engineering i was greeted by a man and upon requesting information about the car i was told that that car had been sold that day. He then gave me details about two other cars there that were around the same make and model.
The man i spoke to was very polite and gave me great detail of the car from interior to exterior and was willing to sell this car for the same price as the one i phoned about.
Later that afternoon when i arrived home from work i tried phoning him again to see if i could get some more pictures of the interior. He had just closed up but requested my email and sent the photos immediately the next morning
I live 7 hours away but i will be inspecting the car and purchasing this Tuesday coming but so far the service is excellent and i will see if they are quality for product upon inspection.
Got my last car from the guys at Humbug Engineering. They were very good in helping me to choose the right car without being pushy. I done a lot of research before going to them and found the prices were low. Just want to say a big thank to the team at Humbug
I visited Humbug Engineering today as I was looking to purchase a vehicle and I''m glad I didnt. The salesperson was horribly rude, swearing when talking which I found quite offensive, they became agitated when I asked to test drive a car as they had to move the other cars out of the way (Isnt that what they are paid to do?) when they finally took me for the test drive it was raining and in my opinion they drove like a maniac. When we arrived back at the car yard they demanded a deposit on the car even when I told them I'm just looking around and it wasnt guaranteed I would purchase the car. They then became very agressive towards me. I immediently left and have since reported them to both the police and the department of fair trading. I am completely disgusted and think its completely ridiculous that they still have a business running, I have never been treated so badly by somebody who is supposed to be a professional businessman.
Where are you from?
Would you yourself go out of your way if you know that you are not a serious buyer?
It is raining, it is going to take time to move the cars you know that they are not going to buy, would you really move cars under rain?
But they did it and they were right you were not a serious buyer!!!!
I am glad you haven't bought a car from them because it sounds that you are the kind of headache customer.
I know Humbug Engineering from 10 years now and I never had any problem with their cars. Once a car blew up they organised the tow truck and everything for me!
The boss is honest, trustful and helpful as I never meet a person like that!
I know them and if they have been arrogant I guess it is because you have been first!!!!
Before to accuse somebody check yourself!
