    I found Island Doors on the Internet among many other door manufacturers. Island Doors have some really good looking doors, so I called in to their showroom, selected a door and sales person / estimator, booked an onsite estimation in 2 days time. At this stage I was fairy impressed.

    After two weeks I had not received a quote, so rung sales person and said they hadn't got around to finishing it and would have it to me by the end of the day. A week later and still not quote I run again and got another staff who again promised the same thing. This time sales person did send through the quote and I accepted it. They then realised they had made some mistakes and the price whet up a $100. Then again realised they had made another mistake and the price went up another $40.00. I asked how log to install and sales person told me 2-3 weeks, or I could pay another $45.00 and have the door express posed for a quicker install date. I paid the $45.00 as I wanted it installed ASAP. Island Doors take a 50% deposit - in the case just over $1,000.00 (Expensive door!).

    Nearly four weeks had passed since I had paid my deposit and extra $45.00 for a 'fast install date'. I phone them again and said that I was booked in next Wednesday and that someone had left me a message (which they hadn't).

    One of their workers arrived and installed the door on the Wednesday. I had to go to work, so I left them to it. They said they usually require the balance of payment after the job is done, but as I wasn't going to be there I could pay with credit card later. The door got installed and looks good.

    On the following Monday I received a call for a very irate person. They demanded that I pay the owing money to them and expressed outrage that I had not been home on the day to pay. I also run my own business and have to deal with customers who don't pay their bills for months. We occasionally need to get a bit tough with them, but nothing compares to their 'attitude' and the way they treated me on the phone. I expressed slight concern that some beading on the top of the door was a bit crooked and could maybe someone come out and fix it as some stage. They got so mad and said that I still needed to pay whatever the door looked like. I refused to pay them on the spot and asked for the installers phone number so I could sort it out with them. They said that they don't give out their installers number and I still needed to pay. They eventually agreed for their workshop management to call me back and hung up.

    They rung at 8:00am the following day. I explained the situation to them and 'happily' agreed to have the beading fixed. I paid them the outstanding balance, including the $45.00 for fast install.

    Island Doors have good looking doors, but save yourself a headache and get one from another company.
