    I came here with a group of colleagues on a Friday night a week ago and there has not been one day since where I haven't thought about my next trip back.

    I'd heard great things about the food and sake here, and I was not disappointed. All the savoury dishes were outstanding, with the favourites being the really succulent and juicy beef ribs (teriyaki beef kalbi), and melt-in-your-mouth pork belly with a thin crispy skin and a tuna katsu which is fried on the outside and medium rare inside.

    The sake selection is huge and it was a little overwhelming but the staff take their time to explain it to you. We decided to go with whatever they recommended and of the sakes we tried, I liked a cherry blossom sake the best.

    I can't wait to come back and try everything else on the menu.

    After hearing so many great things about this Japanese style pub, I finally went here for dinner and now am wondering why I took so long to try this place out. I was really impressed.

    The atmosphere is really vibrant but dark and intimate at the same time. The service is great too, really friendly. The food was excellent and very reasonably price. We ordered a number of dishes which we shared and each of them was excellent. While there are many dishes like sashimi etc that you can get in other Japanese restaurants, there were many different style dishes that make this place unique. You have to try the katsu tuna. I am still trying to work out how they got the katsu batter texture while keeping the tune perfectly medium rare and juicy. Also the pork belly and ribs were really succulent.

    Don't opt for a beer or wine, make sure you try one of the many sakes they have on offer. The staff will explain the range and recommend some entry level sakes if you are new to the drink.

    Izakaya Fujiyama has both great food and a fun environment. Highly recommend.
