This place is the definition of "Meh"
If Jackaon's on George were a Superhero, it would be Aquaman. It it were a dish? A tasty hamburger but without enough cheese.
A song? Blank Space by Tay Tay - not as good as Style, not as daring as Bad Blood, not as pretty as Wildest Dreams.

    Here's why:
It's a PJ's downstairs which is a good pub, don't get me wrong, but... a Good Pub is literally any pub that serves cold beer and edible food. Not a big accomplishment especially near The Rocks.

Second floor seems promising - there's a sizable Dance Floor (dance floor. whatever, it's Friday) which is good, the seating is AWESOME and could be REALLY good, however, the music is absolutely boring. like... absolutely, tremendously mundane. Its like, really badly mixed top 40's stuff. Dark, filled with red light blaring terribly boring music is literally my personal definition of the apocalypse. Sure, you want clubs to be dark, but it's not dark enough. Sure you want there to be fun lights but it's like... lights from a elementary school dance, not even prom level.

Then, you have the top floor which, in my personal opinion, is the best. HOWEVER, that's only because they still have a smoking area, 2 pool tables shoved awkwardly into a corner so you cue hits the walls and infrastructure in certain sides.
It's got a pretty good vibe if you're a big group and just want to use the whole area or if you don't like human contact.

Look... the place is super empty on Saturday nights but it's got SO MUCH potential. It's actually really sad. If there are any event managers or promoters out there, dude... USE JACKSON'S FOR SOME COOL STUFF PLEASE!

I don't really know if it's because of the lock-out laws, but yeah... totes Snoresville, population: 0.

    Up your game, Jackson's. Please.

the existing stars are only for the staff, they were great! loved them. would come back just for the service but probs wouldn't stay too long.

Not a fan, thought it was dirty upstairs no atmosphere and was completely empty on a Friday night.

Have no desire to return anytime soon.
  • Awesome city venue with excellent staff, delicious food and gorgeous decor after the refurb. Would definitely recommend.

Now called Pj Gallaghers - loving the irish feel they've created in the bar!
Tasty food, good drinks, and usually a nice crowd.
Lively at night with really good DJ's! Have seen musicians playing trad music here on sundays too!
  • Very tasty menu- I'm in town at least once a week and I'm working my way around it. The irish curry sauce is also excellent!
  • Great venue since the Gallaghers took over!
  • Location is good, and the decor is pretty fancy. Good range of drinks and food.

A friend and I caught up for lunch here yesterday as the location is easily accessible to both our work locations and there always seems to be plenty of seating which is a bonus at 1pm. We each ordered the beef burger with chips (who can resist chips really ;) and for a fairly cheap feed it was quite nice. They offer regular pub meals at a good price for a larger group adn the drinks are pretty reasonable for a City venue. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly sevrice overall. Curious to try out the pub side for after work drinks
  • The location is quite good . Close to Opera house and on the main Road, The place is always busy and offer good options for a lunch or side orders.

Nice venue. I like the different level they have each very different in their own right. Fun atmoshpere but not usually that packed which is sort of good but sort of bad too and too many young kids like teens and very early 20's. I only end up staying here for a short while and then moving on as usually I get bored there after a while.
