    Fantastic, friendly service, 1-2 weekly with friends and have never had any late dishes / cold food as one person mentioned below. I have nothing but praise for this restaurant. My only complaint is their siew mai is not that great but every other yum cha dish and even their A la carte menu is wonderful, tasty & well priced :)

    Yummy Yum-Yum Cha!
    Many of you may think that dim sums put the 'Yum' in your Yum-cha but Jin Yan will open your eyes to a new type of mobile-food-in-cart experience. For those wondering; 'Yum cha' actually means "Drink Tea!"- so having tea with your meal is a must. The tea is really nice, clear and crisp- you can tell they don't recycle the tea leaves un like some restaurants where your drink resembles murky water.

    Forget the other sub-standard lunch venues and head over here where the service is warm, welcoming and friendly; the food is freshly steamed and there are also made-to-order dishes to choose from.

    There are 3 distinct sections of the restaurant- main indoor area, the alfresco part and the large group sections. The decor is modern with funky retro wall paper, dome lights and stylish kitchenware.

    You can book for large group if you all arrived before 12pm- which I would recommend as this seems to be the hub of the RSL, and a popular gathering for families and friends.
    Of you don't live in the area you should definitely make the trip- especially considering you don't need to be a member of the Castle Hill RSL (saving you $22!). However, if you are a Castle-Hillian, membership is probably a good idea as you get 5% off your Yum cha bill and 10% off dinner: and you will be back!

    The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food, the whole experience is really great. Also friendly is you have young kids as they have special high chairs- that are clean!

    I have done reviews for other Yum Cha restaurants- and unfortunately they have either been a little on the pricey side or the quality has since dropped dramatically. Hopefully Jin Yan will continue to be the five stars I am giving them today!

    It's not like me to go to Castle Hill RSL for a meal. But that's exactly what I've dine for the past two Sundays.

    It's also not like Castle Hill RSL to be home to a buzzing new Chinese restaurant. It is a welcome change - both for the RSL, and for those familiar with restaurants in the area.

    The RSL on the whole seems to have gone through a serious makeover, and walking into Jin Yan, you get the feel that this modern Chinese restaurant is a comfortable and natural fit with the revamped RSL.

    The restaurant isn't huge, but they seem to have done a good job of fitting in a lot of tables comfortably. There are a mix of traditional round tables with lazy susans as well as rectangular ones located in the covered balcony.

    The food is worth a mention too. The first time I came was actually as a guest of a family friend who very generously ordered an incredibly lavish meal starting with a dish of lobster with ee fu noodles. The Chinese style lobster dish was probably the best I've had in awhile, but it probably cost a fair bit too.

    The dishes that followed were no less than spectacular. There was a free range ginger chicken dish, a mixed Asian mushroom and Chinese spinach dish, a fried tofu and prawn dish, amongst others. I've eaten at many a Chinese restaurant, but somehow these dishes were relatively unfamiliar.

    The second time I came, we ordered yum cha. It gets super busy, so you want to get there before 12 to avoid a wait.

    The food is great and prices are reasonable. The egg tarts are UH-MAZING so if that's your thing, be sure to get some.

    A must-visit, especially if you're a local. Good work on making Castle Hill less of a dump.
