I have had two rego checks with these guys, a couple of years apart. Each time they have pulled of replacing the wiper blades and arms because they were 'non compliant'. The second time I checked beforehand and they appeared OK, no streaks etc. Same thing "the rubber was torn" and "we replaced the whole set and arms". So a bill that should have been $40 became $110. I would not recommend. I even told them before the inspection that I didn't like sneaky extras and they did it anyway.

I took my car in for a rego check and they failed it saying I need new tires as my tread was less than 1.5 mm when measured. I took my car for a second opinion and my tread measured at 4" perfectly.

They tried to pressure me into getting new tires and were unbelievably rude. Beware do not go here!!

I have been going to this place for a number of years and the it seemed to be every service they would come up with hundreds / thousands of dollars of required repairs every time. The latest time I had to take my reasonably new car in for a e-safety check and they called up after a few hours saying that they had $600 worth of repairs to do before they would issue the certificate. I couldn't believe it as I barely drive the car so I asked them to detail what was required - they listed them off including new wiper blades. I changed the wiper blades only 2 months earlier. I told them not to complete any of the work and that I would be collect the car. I took the car to another mechanic who showed me that there was nothing wrong with the car which would require repair before a certificate could be issued. Not anymore though. Be very careful.

I'd have to agree with other bad reviews. I don't trust this place.

My g/f took the car to Brodway K-Mart to get the "fixed-price" $139 service. I was called an hour later with $760 worth of "problems".

I went through the list one by one after they quickly rattled off the list and wanted be to confirm it. Luckily I didn't do that straight away.

Firstly they wanted to put on new windscreen wipers ($10 at other shops for some blades) - quoted $60. They don't tell you they are going to put entire new arms on as well (unnecessary expense when all it needs is blades).

Also quoted for two new tyres. They dont' tell you that this is the most expensive type of tyre they have. I said I didn't have the money, so they conveniently dropped to the cheaper of the tyres. I still didn't want new tyres as I know they are not due just yet.

Third they wanted to clean the throttle body. A bit of research on the net revealed that this can be done at home for about $15-$20. They wanted to charge over $100 (can't remember exact price). I refused this as well. Seems to be a money-making ploy for them.

They really seemed off-side once I turned down all these "extra repairs" that were just unnecessary. I suggest going elsewhere. Not a good experience.

Great service from very friendly and competent staff. Car ready on time, as promised, and texted before-hand to say it was done.

Charges reasonable and appropriate for the work that needed to be done (I was very well aware that the car needed brakes, pads and shocks - no surprises with what they recommended, and nothing they wanted to fix that I was not expecting). Basic service charge was much less expensive than other people who have attended to this in the past.

Professional, courteous service all the way. I will be taking my car back here again for regular servicing, any repairs, and future rego checks.

AVOID KMART TYRE AND AUTO AT BROADWAY!!!
    AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID
Like the other reviewers you take your car in for a minor service, and suddenly they'll call you up a few hours later saying you're up for $2900 repair work. I have been called over by these now twice with two separate cars. You'd think I would learn my lesson the first time. On my first occasion my car needed $2500 work (an old corolla worth at most $2000, keep in mind they white slipped my car, which basically that all their repairs get reported to the RTA so any other mechanic has to complete all the required things) So in turn I had to go and buy a new car as there was no point spending money on the repairs, My stupid lapse in judgement when I went back again recently with my new car of 58000km, they call me and want near on $3,000 for work that needs to be done.

I was shopping in at Broadway and needed a flat tyre fixed, so for convenience I decided to have it repairs at this place. They repaired it straight away and it was pretty cheap - only $31. The service was ok.

Terrible horrible shonky place. I am also a young female driver. Took my 2005 model car here to get a routine service and they tried to charge me $950 for it!! All I had asked them for was to service the car and tighten the handbrake up as it wasn't very strong on hills. They rang me back saying they'd found a whole host of things that needed changing, that my brake pads needed changing but that they had to change the rotors as well to do it. That my wiper blades needed changing, etc. So I agreed to some things and not others. Only to find that they misrepresented what was wrong with my car. They didn't just change the wiper blades as they'd suggested, they changed the entire arms and tried to charge me $80 each for them! I then asked for the assessment sheet, which when I looked at it, it said "brakes: 20% worn". I questioned why they charged me $400 for changing my rotors and pads if I didn't need them. The staff didn't know so they went and asked, only to come back with the 20 scribbled out and 80 written in it's place! So I asked to see the brake pads, and was furious when they wouldn't produce them because they had "thrown them in the bin". After leaving, I discovered a squeal in my brakes that was uncomfortable for the ears even inside the car with the windows closed. I also discovered a strange metal on metal tapping sound emitting from the front right tyre when i hit bumps at low speeds. After giving the brakes three weeks of driving every day for them settle down somewhat, but finding that they didn't, I took my car back and asked them to fix what they had stuffed up. They told me that they would change out my rotors again free of charge and that would fix the problem. But they took my car for the entire weekend to do it. I also asked them to find the tapping noise in the front right tyre and told the circumstances in which it can be heard. I received a phonecall the next day asking where in my engine I had heard this tapping noise as they had been playing around with my engine all day and couldn't find it. "that's because there never WAS a tapping noise in the engine, it's in the front right tyre when I go over bumps at low speeds, as I TOLD you yesterday!!". I informed them that depending on what time they finished, I might not be able to pick up my car due to other commitments, but that I could have someone else pick it up in my place and that I would ring them back to confirm. I never received a phonecall from them saying my car was done, but instead received one from my boyfriend, whose details or name I had never provided to kmart tyre & auto, who thought he'd do me a favor and pick up my car. He didn't get asked for or show any ID, he didn't introduce himself, he just said he was there to pick up a white car, didn't say whose it was, and they handed him my keys without asking a thing or even calling me to confirm. So I got my car back to find that they had (a) not replaced the rotors, they had just machined the ones on there and badly ( they still squeal uncomfortably and it's four months later), (b) had not fixed the tapping, and (c) had loosened up my handbrake back to what it was before I paid them to fix it. I refuse to take my car back and get them to fix their subsequent stuff ups because frankly, I'm afraid of what real damage they will do to my car.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THESE MERCHANTS!!

Terrible Experience - Do not go here
I am a young female driver I took my car here to get a pink slip, 45 minutes later i received a call saying my car needed over $2100 worth of repairs done. I instructed them not to complete the repairs and that i would take the car somewhere else. In response to this my car was white slipped - meaning i could not get my car through for registration ANYWHERE in NSW until the "necessary repairs" were taken care of. The second mechanic i took it to said that although the car was older, there was nothing showing that would constitute failing a rego check.
However due to having a white slip, I had to have the repairs done. Once they were completed the car was taken back the Kmart to be approved and pass the pink slip. My boyfriend took it back this time. The mechanic inspected the car for less than 30 seconds and sent my partner on his way. He did not check all the repairs on the white slip were completed.
This just shows the motives behind the behaviour i have experienced. I was ripped off and punished for not agree to the ridiculous fees they were hoping to charge me.
