serviceable...thats the word that springs to mind. unlike the earlier review the food came quickly, the service was really friendly & this pub actually looked pretty good! it had been years since i last went to the lara pub & it looks pretty good now. unfortunately, the food wasn't that great. i got the special - mixed grill. not that tasty, which would have been acceptable if it was massive or cheap, unfortunately it got three strikes in those categories. we also got a mushroom trio risotto, kinda sloppy, not what risotto's should be. apparently the kids spag bolognese was good, so because of that, the service & the refurb, it scrapes through. just an FYI - don't get a jug of pure blonde, at $19.3o a jug...wow!! and i dont mean that in a good way
Unfortunately I have to give the Lara hotel a "not good" rating. The service was nice enough but my meal looked terrible and tasted awful, I ordered a greek lamb salad. The salad was terribly wilted and the meat was chewy and burn,t even worse the whole thing was drowned in balsamic vinigar. Lara Victoria has a very limited supply of eateries which is kind of surprising as it has quite a reasonable population. To me going out for dinner is a treat, I don't mind paying for good food, but I really balk and paying for something that I can not eat.
