Infant massage, otherwise known as baby massage, involves the parent or caregiver learning a series of strokes and massage techniques in order to enhance your babyâ??s physiological and psychological development and to deepen the parent-infant bond. As well as learning the massage sequence, infant massage is about discovering how your baby communicates their needs through body language (non-verbal communication), and learning how to interpret this in terms of whether they would like a massage or not. This forms part of the 'permission sequence' which is the very first part of the infant massage routine. Learning infant massage is so easy. Danielle will guide you through each stroke until you feel confident in communicating your love through touch. You will also learn to relax yourself and create a serene and nurturing environment in which your baby will thrive. Danielle will provide the appropriate oil to use, give advice on the best time to massage your baby, how to create the right environment for massage, we will also discuss bonding, why babyâ??s cry, reading and respecting your babyâ??s body language and parent empowerment are just some of the skills and topics we teach. All you need to bring is a pillow and towel! Over the 5 week course we focus on a different body part each week. This allows baby to become familiar to the stimulation of massage and give parents the opportunity to practice and remember the strokes correctly. Courses run for approximately 60 minutes.
