The restaurant at Lochiel House is now under new management as of May 3rd, 2012. The new owners Wayne and Jess would like to welcome you to enjoy a wonderful dining experience.

Tucked away in Kurrajong Heights, Lochiel House, built in 1825 by former convict Joseph Douglas, serves up delicious modern european food, focusing on 'Nose to Tail' eating. Lochiel House has recently changed ownership and is now opened for Brunch, Afternoon tea and Dinner. Focusing on fresh, local and quality produce. The new owners are keen to showcase their years of experience in the hospitality industry. Just a 45 minute drive from Sydney, Lochiel House is certainly a place worth travelling to.

    It's a bit of drive to get here but definitely worth it. We went at night and the road to restaurant was pitch black so it felt like we were really in the middle of no where but I'd imagine on sunny winter's day it would be beautiful drive.

    When you arrive, you drive into a gravelled drive way and there little cottages dotted in the distance but the homestead where the restaurant is placed has homely rustic feeling. The restaurant only has a limited number of tables and has an intimate feeling. They had a wood fire burning which I really appreciated because it was freezing.

    The food was definitely worth its hat and best regional restaurant tag. The soft warm custard with truffle and smoked eel was divine. It just melted in your mouth and the flavours were so delicate yet powerful at the same time. The spatchcock was also delicious and very moist.

    However the stand out dish for me was the warmed salted caramel and chocolate pudding. If you don't like your desserts overly sweet and appreciate a bit of bitterness, then this is the dessert for you. It was too rich to finish but absolutely amazing and I can still taste it when I think about it. I now absolutely love salted caramel.

    The staff are really friendly and explain the dishes and the origins of the produce. if you are into organic locally produced ingredients then these guys follow all the rules.

    If you are looking for a day out in the country then definitely go and have lunch at this spot. Also if you are looking for somewhere great to have dinner if you are staying out in the blue mountains region, they are worth a visit.

    This delightfull cafe has great service and a delightful menu, situated in easily excessable area of the Heights and well worth the drive and dining experience.Great for a quiet night out.
