Longrain is a contemporary Thai restaurant and bar located in hip Surry Hills just a stones throw from Sydney's CBD. Established in 2001 Longrain has been a consistent Good Food Guide award winner including Sydney's best Thai restaurant. We don't take bookings for dinner so recommend you come early, put your name down for a table and enjoy a drink in our cocktail bar. Bookings are available for lunch. We also have a private dining room which seats 12 - 18 people.

Award-winning Thai: sour, salty, sweet and hot. And that's just the clientele.
On the edge of the city in a Manhattan-style converted warehouse, this funky and frenetic Thai, with its huge communal table, is always packed with people tucking into lively, fresh flavours. Chef Martin Boetz appeals to spicy sweet tooths with his famed eggnets with pork, prawn, peanuts and sweet vinegar; and there's plenty more to enjoy: crisp-fried trout with banana blossom salad; mussaman curry of Wagyu beef cheek and a sumptuous caramelised pork hock with five spice and chilli vinegar. The wine list is brilliantly matched to the food. There's no bookings for nights, but a wait in the uber-cool cocktail bar listening to the DJ, eating betel leaves with smoked trout and sipping a caipiroska is no great hardship.

Muddling in this Manhattan- style space is what’s done best here. Famous for its stick drink which is fruit pounded by a wooden stick shaken with vodka and ice, settle into the cool bar at Longrain and forget about a quiet chat – it’s Friday night and the discs are spinning. Instead order some betel leaves or the heavenly sticky pork to keep you going.
