Reviews of Machiavelli

More of a corporate, work lunch setting and it shows in the clientele. Photos of famous, or secondarily known, faces are placed across the walls reflecting the pride of this old establishment. I enjoyed my main, spaghetti machiavellie, which has generous servings of prawns scattered throughout. I also asked for the penne to replace the spaghetti, work function and all... It was not a problem and service was good, as was the tiramisu. Delicious, but not a place I would come to out of work.
  • If I am not mistaken, the correct name is "Machiavelli Ristorante". That way it really sounds Italian. The restaurant is great and offers wide range of pizzas and pasta. Everything delicious and it's even at a walking distance from our home. We can go whenever we want and have a wonderful meal.

Machiavelli is the epitome of old school work lunch, which becomes obvious the second you walk in and you see huge portrait photos of some of Australias most prominent businessman. The restaurant is a little bit hidden down some stairs which allows for very private dining anf hence why it is popular with the executive crowd. Being a family owned restaurant the waiting staff have learned their trade from it being passed down from generation to generation. Some of them are seriously close to 90, but they still have an absolute passion for what they do, which is reflected in the food and the service. Let them make you a starter plate with their own choices and you will find mature cheese, prosciutto and tiger prawns. For mains, I particularly enjoy the steak tartare. The waiter will bring all of the ingredients to your table and make it in front of you all the while allowing you to choose the mix of ingredients. An amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone, not just corporates.

This is a great place to go if you are not footing the bill, as the food is terribly expensive. It is very tasty and well presented, but in my opinion definitely not worth the cost. The service is fantastic, however. The wait staff are very friendly and attentive, and like to make sure you are enjoying your meal.
  • This is a convinient spot for lunch breaks if you work in the city. It has ample seating, and friendly service all the time. However, I would recommend booking in advance, just in case!

If you work in the city, this is great place for a work lunch or for taking clients out. Its old-school food and service cant really be flawed. Everyone should try the steak diane, it absolutely melts in your mouth and you wont find anything like it anywhere else in Sydney.
  • A coworker recommended Machiavelli for Italian and we're so happy she did! The food was amazing and it was a great atmosphere. You MUST order the spaghetti Machiavelli!
