    I see a few negative remarks about this venue. Put simply, my reaction is why I stopped going. If my service is extremely slow, if they double charge and then refuse to pay me back that extra... then good bye for ever.

    Was very disappointed in the "seafood platter' - on the plate were 4 mussels - 5 prawns and a few rings of calamari - salad and chips - quite expensive I thought at nearly $28.00. My scallop terrine was tasty as always though!!

    Very poor service. After waiting for some time, I had to call the wait staff over so we could order. I ordered grilled tomatoes on toast and was given plain toast with a side order of one tiny tomato cut in half. I expressed my disappointment and the reply..."that's how the chef does it here". I also complained to the staff member who told me the chef does not like complaints. Clearly the impression was they did not want to be there. The restaurant was not very busy and now I know why. I will not be returning to Mamma Lina's. Spend your money on a restaurant that welcomes their paying guests.

    Very disappointed, From bad attitude of two staff, cold coffee, cold hot chocolate with meat served up to a vegetarian when a meatless meal was ordered...would never go back ....

    After reading some of the other reviews i can see that im not alone in the dissapointment i experienced at Mamma Linas. We found some staff very rude and abrupt, it was as though it was an effort to serve us. We then waited over 40 min for our entree and a further 40 min for our mains along with drinks which were ordered with our entree. We had hoped the food would make up for lack of service but this was not the case, the food was terrible in my opinion. I had been a regular customer and have never had a problem with the food before. I will no longer be going to Mamma Linas.

    Sadly I have to agree with the previous customer. My boyfriend and I went to mamma Linas for breakfast on Sunday OMG what a disaster. I really don't think anyone new what was going on that day but it was a shambles. After waiting 25 minutes for service, coffees took a further 20 minutes and food took over an hour. I was disgusted and will not be going back anytime soon. What has happened???? This place has gone downhill in the last 2 years!

    My recent visit to Mamma Linas was dissapointing to say the least. After waiting over 45 minutes for 2 serves of garlic bread, we waited another hour for our mains. My wife had the homemade gnocci with napoli which was mor like little golf balls swimming in tomato soup, my 4 year old son had a kids spag bol which was bigger in size than my wifes main. I had there so called signiture chicken dish which consisted of a dry burnt piece of chicken sitting on top of soggy boiled vegetables with 3 burnt potatoes and an oily bacon cream sauce. After asking to speak to the manager who refused to speak to me i paid for the meals and left without eating. I thought the manager would have at least taken the meals off the bill seeing as though we couldnt eat them. Wont be going there again!

    Great place to go and hang hang out with family or friends. Although, a bit expensive, it's well worth the value, with decent size meals and great customer service. One of my favourite cafes in the Essendon area.

    Great place to go. Food is always good and service is prompt. I have going to Mama Lina's for years now and always leave a happy customer. Well done to the team working there....they are doing something right that others perhaps need to learn from.
