Still great after all these years. Marigold is a huge restaurant that spans two floors, though I think only one is open on weekdays. The yum cha here is always great, but service varies. The cart ladies are generally pretty friendly and can speak some English, but one of the staff member (they make/set the tables) gave us attitude when we asked for chilli sauce - and then never returned with chilli sauce.

The food is good though - everything we ordered was fantastic. Be careful of the dishes they try to push on to you - they tend to cost a lot more. At the very least, there is price list on the table, which not many other yum cha restaurants provide.

Consistently good yum cha. I've never been for their full menu - but enjoy the Yum Cha on a Sunday with friends.

There's a sweet spot in the hours to go for the freshest and best food on the trolleys. Even though it's packed, busy and often a line - between 12 - 2 is the best time.

Excellent food. Had Yum Cha for lunch, great selection. Be sure to ask for the Orange Goo off their secret menu.

Had yum cha for lunch. It was of a very good quality and the waitstaff spoke good english which helped! Was a little on the pricey side but then again yum cha isn't exactly a cheap meal nowadays.

Food is ok, althought it can be very busy. Very chaotic and can be hard to get service.

Classic Chinese Yum Cha. I go there once a month or so, and although very busy at lunch time, have found the food to be tasty and service to be fine. It can be chaos though when overcrowded.

Large group event for yum cha experienced such a below average quality of food n far below the excepted line for service.
The food as quickly being rushed out was still only warm to cold probably from the large size of service needed. Tables needed to be asked to be cleared. Not always ontop of it.
Service itself was bad. Being kept on pushed to try all the dishes was extremely annoying.
The cold desert dishes were really good tho.

My husband and I were regular visitors to Marigold. It's a busy place to go eat, but the food is reasonable and during the week it's relatively easy to get a seat at one of the tables. However on Wednesday (Sept 22) we visited for the last time. One of the waiting staff took out a personal attack on me when my husband went to pay the bill. I was told by the woman who seated us when we arrived to get up and get out, very abruptly - with hand gestures. She cleared up the table whilst I was finishing the meal and drinking some tea. I have never experienced such treatment in a restaurant before, and needless to say, will not be going back there for seconds.

I'm never quite convinced that I'm a fan of Yum Cha. It can be very hit and miss...depending on the service and timing of the food being served around you. Marigold's is in keeping with the other Yum Cha houses I've been to in London, San Francisco and Sydney. We managed to grab a few great dishes, which we demolished and then didn't get a chance to grab anymore of the same. Instead we placed a few orders directly with the kitchen and sampled various Yum Cha dishes that caught our eye. We left feeling full up and contented, however I did find it slightly more expensive than our usual lunch costs. So I'm still undecided...I don't hate Yum Cha, but I don't love it either...

The great range of star ratings here is testament to Marigolds often hit & miss performance. I vowed not to go again after a bout of claggy dumplings & parched pork buns, however after being lured back by a good friend I was treated once again to the Marigold of yore! Delicate scallops & prawns incased in translucent dumpling perfection. Greener than green snowpea & seafood parcels of goodness! And soft, sweet char siu bao pork confection. Would I recommend it? On a good day, sure. On a bad? Tread carefully.
