After weeks of failing to start and spewing oil, the car was towed for the fourth time this morning and was diagnosed by a mechanic as having little to no compression in two cylinders and requires a complete engine rebuilt at a cost of $ 6,000 - 7,000.
It is an older car, I raised my troubles with the car to Marion Wholesale Cars who suggested that I should expect issues with an older car.
While negotiating the sale, the car was described by them as being, "in excellent mechanical condition" and having "no issues"
I do not work in the used cars business but would suggest that an engine needing a complete rebuilt is perhaps not in "excellent mechanical condition" and could possibly be described as an issue.
Again, I feel very badly mislead by the information that was provided to me prior to the sale.
My personal experience with Marion Wholesale Cars. I, perhaps naively purchased a car via the internet on the value of pictures and dealer description.
The car, as described to me was in "excellent mechanical condition", "a genuine car with original 177,000kms" ... the car had, "no issues"
The reality, the cars documented history show that the cars 200,000kms service was conducted in 1992. I have now owned the car for 5 weeks. In this time it has been in a mechanics workshop on four separate occasions, I have been forced to call for road side assistance on 4 separate occasions, the car has twice. Most recently yesterday - I will be spending my Easter some distance from home awaiting another mechanical repair.
Again, I admit to being naive, purchasing a car online is a gamble. But that said I strongly feel that I was very badly mislead. Legally Marion Wholesale Cars were not obliged to offer a warranty given the age of the vehicle - in my opinion, the response to issues I have experienced display a complete lack of customer care.
