For me it is the best restaurant in the area to take a young family with kids, because it has plenty of room to fit the pram by the table and allow kids to wander about when they're bored. I was impressed that they have their own activity colouring sheet and give kids colouring pencils. It's ashame they dont have a playground, as there is a t.a.b across the road with a mega one and a McDonalds on the otherside with an outdoor one. Been there twice this year and no complaints about the food. Agree it is pricey so would only be going there on special occasions with family.
Went to Michelangelo's for a celebration and I was very dispointed. I ordered the Mixed grill, my lamb was tough and burnt and tasted like rosemary,it was meant to be marinated, I asked for well done steak and was given medium, the pork ribs were dry.
Most of the people working were very nice. Its a bit crowded and a bit loud, seeing as its big area and with no screens to dull the sound down.
Charging more on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays is a bit rude and the menu prices do not include GST.
Won't be going back.
Great modern Italian. A HUGE restaurant, but very well run. It's not exactly intimate, but it isn't crazy either. Generally friendly service, despite the size of the operation. Eat-in or take-away; licenced & BYO. Outdoor dining is on a major road so I'm not sure the ambiance would be anything to write home about.
The menu consists of pizzas (incl. gourmet), pastas (adventurous & modern), risottos, steak, veal, chicken, seafood, salads, etc., etc. What they do, they do very well. The food is always good quality, well prepared, and generous.
The biggest downside to Michaelangelos is the pricing. The prices keep going higher & higher and are now quite obscene.
Despite the high prices (eg $15 for an entree pasta as take-away), I'll still opt for Michaelangelos every now & then because their pastas are much better than anything else in the area. However, there are far better pizzas available for half the price elsewhere (eg Bayside/Nicks in Edithvale).
