I went to Midas as I thought that a known name company would not take advantage of someone who has no knowledge of cars at all. I went to Midas for a regular service, i was called and told that my car needed a new engine mount, new back brakes, new brake cylinders, new brake pads, leaking rocket gasket, new wheel bearing and even more!. I was quoted around $1500 and decided to get what was "urgent" done. So I told them to proceed with repairs such as new brakes, new brake cylinders and machining of brakes etc. THIS COST ME $1000!!!

Furthermore, a mechanic took a screw driver to my engine as to show me that the engine mount needed to be replaced. They used great force in displaying how loose the engine mount was and how urgent it is to attend to. No wonder it needs a new engine mount when you get a screw driver and jam it in the engine and forcefully lever it back and forth!

I then felt a sudden unease when I collected my car and found it was now making a squeaking noise when braking and that the braking had in fact worsened. I took it back and was told that this is because I need new front brakes even though I had them replaced approximately 3 months prior.

Stressing about the cost of all these repairs, I decided to get a 2nd opinion. I spoke to friends and was recommended a mechanic who was honest and reliable. So I called him and he serviced my car. He found that there was no leak from the rocket gasket, that the engine mount did need to be replaced only because there was a tear from something forcefully damaging it (the screw driver), he also informed me that nothing was done to the back brakes and that I was cheated!! He told me that the $99 I paid for each cylinder should have only cost $14. He told me that the new brake set which I was charged $189 should have cost around $60 and that the machining of the brakes which I paid $89 should have been free or $20 minimum.

So here I am after finding out that I was ripped off a minimum of $600 for nothing and was nearly conned another $1000 for repairs which were not needed. If I had gone to Midas this time I would have wasted $1000 for nothing and probably been told another $1000 of repairs is needed.
