Those that argue the argue that "soup isn't a meal" need not be scared off by the Moroccan Soup Bars deceptive name, or the fact that it is vegetarian - there is something here for everyone as the packed room and queue out the door will testify. Owner Hanna Assifiri is one of Melbourne's dining scenes true characters, explaining to each and every customer in her inimitable style what tonight's specials are - and they truly are special.
Chickpea bakes, lentil curries, or perhaps couscous steamed in a real tagine. The superb flavours are only superseded by the delicious aromas.

The food is so good, and the concept is fantastic. It's great value for money too. Unfortunately, they need to improve their customer service skills. They give the impression that they don't want to be there and can't be bothered with you. I once went in there and made two requests, I was met with rolling eyes and a sigh. Their food saves them, because if it was anywhere else I would not come back. Unfortunately it will probably come to that one day, unless the service standards are brought up to scratch.

Don't understand how anyone could think of negative feed back for this place.
It was AMAZING. Such delicious food, we got a sample of everything and shared it between two of us. good atmosphere the customer service was ogod, people were friendly, food was Outstanding, if only they did bookings for under 6 people!

Despite hearing a lot of good things about this restaurant, I was disappointed. I went with a group and we ordered the banquet. While the food was definitely interesting and some of it tasted great (the chickpea bake was lovely), they were very, very stingy with the serving size, especially given the ridiculous price - $18 per person for the banquet, not including dessert despite what it said on the menu, because they had "run out"! Also the seating was awkward - low couches far back from the table, possibly the worst set up for eating soup or other liquidy food. And also, no booze allowed, not even BYO, which makes socialising with a large group in a noisy restaurant a bit awkward. Was not impressed.

Number one in all areas! Great food, very healthy and extremely cheap.

Added bonus - TAKE AWAY - if you take in your own containers they'll fill them up for $7.50 per person!

Clearly the best value in town and it's hearty vegetarian. We go regularly, and despite the fact it is all vegetarian food even my dad loves it!

The baked chickpea and pita bread dish is awesome, a must have!

    The also cater for allergies!

That thing they do with the chick peas is to die for. Otherwise, the food is tasty and hearty - vego. No booze allowed, unfortunately. And tricky to book, unless you have a big group. I like that there are no menus - you don't have to pore over a long list of foods you don't recognise, just ask teh waitress to choose. You can get takeaway, but remember to bring your own containers.
