Friend and i went to the cafe today for arvo tea. The place was uninviting, dirty (even the chairs and windows were dirty), food all over the floor, chairs and tables. I was overcharged quite a bit and was reluctantly given the refund with not a word or a look. The coffee was weak, tepid and unpalatable and the scones a strange cake-like concoction. The only water was in PAPER cups! Even the glass panel outside was filthy. Very unhelpful and unfriendly staff.

Soooo very disappointed! My husband and I went there last night for our 7th wedding anniversary, expecting this to be a fine dining experience - given the prices on their menu. We were very much disappointed. You walk into a horrible entrance and it is not a restaurant at all - its a cafe! and a very bad cafe at that! This place is soooo over priced and the meals that were served were like a 10 year could cook. $40 for the beef as a main and it was terrible! Not to mention the $20 starter was almost uneatable and the champagne had been opened for atleast 2 days prior as there were no bubbles in it. The service was appalling - even by cafe standards. There was only us and about 8 other diners in the 'restaurant' area - I think this shows how unpopular this place is. The table setting were disgraceful - a paper table cloth, dented cheap salt and pepper shakers, cheap cutlery, paper menus, no candles on the tables, a plastic table number (as you get in your local cafe) absolutely no ambiance at all and not even soft background music- we should have walked out as soon as we walked in. I do not have a problem with kids in a cafe however there were kids playing board games on the table next to us coz they were in the cafe area and the 'restaurant' is in the same room as the 'cafe' with no divider at all. So for most of the night we had to put up with kids playing board games - thank goodness we only stayed for less than an hour - have never wanted to get out of a place so quickly before. We will never go back - next time we will just stick to Windy Point Restaurant or their cafe - atleast you will get a beautiful dining experience there every time. So please do not waste your time and money at Mt Lofty. Oh, and good luck finding the place - there is no signage at all! Disgraceful - just wasted $150!

Food took 50+ minutes to arrive despite being a VERY simple lunch time menu. Chicken salad was dry, pate serve very small with loads of bread to make up the plate, vegetarin focaccia was dry with minimal filling. Couldnt get a bottle of water for the table despite the fact we were ordering other drinks including wine, we were told that we had to go to the bar to fill up plastic cups from the water fountain. Had been there about 5 years ago and it was enjoyable however a subsequent visit was average, was only willing to try again as we had international visitors and thought the drive and views would be nice. Some culinary miracle would need to happen before I ever went there again.

booked in advance for Father's Day and paid a $40 deposit to secure a breakfast booking. Coffee was ok and we all ordered Summit breakfast or scrambled eggs. The scrambled eggs were unpalatable and even our hungry kids struggled. The serves were small and I sent mine back with a question of serving size but the care factor was not there. It seemed as there was nobody checking meals or cooking time. We waited 40mins for breakfast and we were the second table to arrive. My husband was very disappointed as we all and paid $75.00 for a tasteless and badly presented meal . Even phoned restaurant on Monday and were not really interested.
