Ho Ho Ho, Christmas trains, sand pictures, Santa and Rudolph everything a child could wish for at Christmas. Dream come true...... however for some Mum's & Dads though, this year Myer has put Santa on the 6th floor in the Audio & Visual Department. My first question is why? The toy department surely makes far more sense for entertaining the kids, secondly where is the baby changing rooms? 3rd Floor! So how does a mother with 2 children manage to queue for the hour to see Santa and change the baby.
I can only imaging the thought was to try and sell more Audio and Visual goods as these are the high end merchandise, not many 2 year old's are interested in these products. Granted there was a Santa movie on which was a great idea, but surely that could have worked just as well in the toy department.
Sorry Myer I love Santa and happy to go the extra mile but this year was distressing for many! Not a lot of Christmas cheer for Mum & Dad

Myer used to be the store of choice as it had earnt its reputation for service and quality. Now, however, it is tacky, trashy and glitzy - all image and no substance. Customer service is abysmal; the range of goods is limited to fashion items pitched at the image conscious, and the floor layout is unfriendly to customers who either do not want to (or cannot) walk round and round looking at the 'offerings'. As for wheelchair users, it's a no-go zone. Get over the idea of fashion, Myer, as this is of peripheral value to the world; start offering decent service and goods pitched at those who want quality rather than image!

Really happy with the variety. It's a really clean store, especially since the renovations. The items often come on sales and it's the best place to go for them.

Easy to get there by public transport, but hard to carry all the bags of shopping on the way home on the tram.

For such a brand new renovation they forgot to put toilets in accessible places. I had to drag my kid from the Lonsdale street 1st floor to the 3rd floor Bourke street to use the toilet there.

Excellent service provided by the BIB sales assistant, Maria, at the city store. Even though it was very busy, this sales assistant was willing to check with another store for the size I needed and due to a busy phone system was left on hold for a considerable time. She was conscientious and thorough, and when I left the details at the store, recontacted me the following day to ensure I had them. An extremely positive experience.

Myer use to be my very favourite place to shop but as of late i have just been disgusted with the service. i've had similar experiences to the ones below. there are never enough staff, and when there are staff they are so incredibly rude that you are left speechless. take today for example, i was in the womens clothing dept and all i wanted to do was buy a dress cos i have a birthday party to go to on the weekend. after not having much luck finding anything cos the place is a mess, i managed to find a $600 (way out of my price range!) but i was just so desperate to get out of there that i thought i would just buy it. i waited at one register for 10mins, the person was fiddling around with paperwork and didnt even look up to greet me or say 'just a minute' or anything. *finally* they gave me the look-over and basically said that they were busy and it would be quicker for me to find another register, at which point they motioned towards another register on the other side of the level and then continued back to their papers! didnt even wait for me to reply. i have never been so angry or disgusted in my entire life. you've lost my business Myer.

What is going on Myer? Have you over capitalized on infrastructure with your new headquarters in Docklands and the facelift in Bourke Street at the expense of employing enough staff to ensure adequate customer service? Where are all of the Christmas casuals you used to employ at your busiest time of year? You could count the staff on one hand on Level 3 Lonsdale St yesterday and the staff you could find were surrounded by disgruntled customers trying to get some semblance of customer service from what was once Australias best retailer. After trying to find someone to complain to (what ever happened to department supervisors?) I was asked by 2 staff members to make a complaint to head office as they are not listened to when they request more staff for each department. I waited 45 minutes to purchase a pair of school shoes. Why did I bother? Because I received an offer as part of my Myer One membership that if I bought school shoes between Dec 28th and Jan 3rd I could get a second pair of shoes half price and a nifty stationary kit for my son when I finally got to the register with the 2 pair of shoes and a very impatient 5 year old hanging out for his stationary kit, I was told that the stationary kits hadnt arrived in time for the offer at any store in the country and they would take my name and give me the pleasure of coming back in to collect it when they arrived! Having witnessed first hand the amount of money thrown around by Myer during Spring Carnival week in the Birdcage my suggestion would be that the money spent of having Jennifer Hawkins strut her stuff, Liza Minnelli being wheeled in to belt out a few tunes and the truckloads of Moet flowing down the hangers on necks would have been better placed employing a few extra staff to ensure that customers were serviced.

Myer was once a Melbourne institution but its appalling service and pretentious staff now lets it down severely. Also I don't like what they're doing with the redevelopment, it will lose much of its charm.

Overall shopping at Myer these days is a painful experience. Finding everything is a nightmare. Stepping down into the basement I know frustration is only moments away. None of the staff are helpful, I would go as far to say they are useless. If you ever do spot one, they are either speaking to one of their colleagues or simply not paying any attention. There is no one to help you with anything, the clothes are packed onto shelves, there is no order or logic to it. The fitting rooms are all over the place and there is no where to put items once you have tried them. Upstairs in the womens clothes section, there is slightly more order but the staff are just as useless, I stood waiting to ask staff if I could try a dress on for several minutes whilst the 2 staff spoke about the others partner. The only staff member who was helpful was in the Review section. Overall, not happy Jan. Myer will not survive if the current customer service levels are continued.
