Just a quaint, yummy little Chinese restaurant - not amazing, but fills the belly nicely! Price aren't too bad, the food is fresh & hot. There is another nam loong further up the hill, closer to the arch which has sticky buns in the window - this is similar but the food is better.

There are several Nam Loongs close to each other, this is not of the restaurant-ey one (not quite as good) but of the crowded, cafe-style one farther up Russell St. I like these unpretentious places where working-class Chinese go for dinner after work - it is always packed in the evening, you are liable to be squeezed in or to have to share a table at times. The food is roasts hanging in the window, a very large selection of buns and filled pastries (their specialty), and a Cantonese-style menu aimed at Chinese, not Europeans. There is no music (YES!) and the food is very good for the price - a lot under $10, pretty good serves and nothing very dear. For the price, one of the best deals in the area, very honest and a good feed.

They absolutely have the best Char Siu Bao in town. Whenever I am in Melbourne, I will buy about 30-50 to bring back to WA. Apparently they have 3 store in China Town and each of them don't really do the same thing. It is the number 1 shop that sells those delicious meat bun. They have about 8-10 varieties. It is something you need to try!

good cheap place to eat. Unless you're making an effort to eat here, you'd probably walk past, its that inconspicuous, but walk through the doors & you're greeted with a vast, cheap menu that never fails to deliver.

Cheap place to eat. Good taste, however, it's a quite dirty. It's better to go to another branch just near by, Nam Loong Seafood.

I often have lunch here, and enjoy the value for money. They have many authentic dishes and a long menu with lots of choice. They have had some bad reviews, but that has not put me off, since the value for money is great.

Quite good value for money dining. Menu ranges from $7 to $12. I normally order the Char Kay Teow, which was quite tasty. They also have steam buns cooking in front of the restaurant, and they are quite fresh and tasty as well. I'd also recommend it's sibling restaurant Wing Loong which is also good value for money dining.
