I think this place is brilliant.. I don't mind waiting.. And i think the $30 fee for non health care card people is a great way of weeding out the people who don't actually need to be there.. I have been with my doctor for about 15 years.. If you want personalized service don't swap n change n then complain about it.. And people who are saying that they have to pay for a prescription i don't think i ever have.. I simply call up and say i need a script and my doctor does it and leaves it at the reception for me.. Other times i have needed to see him and have had no money so he said just to tell the reception to be bulk billed, and they didn't even question it because obviously he does it a lot..
I wish I had something nice to say about that place. I have been going there since it opened when I moved here as its always best to stick with one dr and one clinic, I have stage 4 ovarian cancer at 35 & I require alot of treatment & its very difficult to change doctors, not to mention tiresome........... when they started charging people I was billed 3-4 times a week at $30 regardless of how many time you go there, & then when I went to medicare one day I was told cause Im on a healthcare card they shouldnt be charging me, They were right, I when I approached the clinic I didnt even receieve an apology or any offer of money back, when it was their fault!!! As they never asked me or wrote a sign on the front desk stating you will be BBilled if on pension or healthcare card, I assumed all people had to pay, nothing was said about healthcare cards. speant over $2000 and I still believe the staff are some of the rudest people Ive ever met.
Theres a couple of good drs there, but you'll find its a long wait for the good ones, as they dont run appointments & if you ring up to find out dr time's , generally you feel like you are aggrevating the reception staff. Out of the 14-16 Doctors I would say there is 2 maybe 3 good ones.
The pharmacy girls are lovely & very helpful if I could say one good thing, additionally so are the pathology girls, but they are a seperate company.
If you have a complex illness or require alot of treatment I wouldnt recommend this place, but if you have a sick child or broken leg when pretty much all you need is some antibiotics or a referral for an xray then maybe go. Iys one of those clinics that The majority of the GP's like to get you in & out by my observation and seem to just work as a "one man show" so dont expect any of them to help you out if your dr isnt rostered on the day, ill or on holidays. I am now in the process of finding a new GP clinic, & I know this is heresay, but I have spoken to alot of other patients in the clinic who are thinking about doing the same thing.
Good luck, If anyone can reccommend a good clinic in the area please post.
Although there is a $30 charge to see doctors, for children under 5 years of age there is no fee or charge.
I have had two pregnancies dealt with by Narregate. I would recommend Dr Stow but wish they made appoints as Dr Stow is the Shared care doctor that I need to see for the pregnancy and she is very popular due to her skill. I have waited 80 minutes for her before.
Some doctors I have been to have a charge of $55 and this differs for different times or days so to me $30 is reasonable if you want the convenience of walk up service. If you want appointments or don't want to pay for your care, Go somewhere else.
They started as being quite good.. the lack of appointments is a bit annoying but if you look past that, they were okay.
THEN they started charging, every appointment they have is a B which is 64.90 of which you have to pay $30, no matter what they do (or dont), its just not right.
On the plus side, Dr Dunn is fantastic, a real down to earth caring doctor who i would recommend to anyone. I will be certainly be following him from this place to his next practice.
One word... DISAPPOINTED!!! I am an insulin dependant diabetic I found a great doctor at this clinic, until they released the $30 payment to see my doctor. Being a diabetic and wanting to try so very hard to stay on top of things, everything seemed to be going 'Oh so well' Now...I have changed clinics and Im trying to stay on top of problems Im having at the moment but I feel held back due to the PAYMENT to transfer files. I have never had to pay to transfer files. =( Im in desperate need to forward details to the new clinic and I have misplaced the INVOICE i was sent to pay for the transfer. I went into the clinic to make the payment, but the payment needs to be sent to an office in Sydney. Wanting to speak to the office in Sydney to organise the payment and/or hurry up the transfer and I cant even contact them. I cant get a new invoice until the staff speak to management not to mention the office in Sydney is closed for the day?! I will not hear from anybody in regards to this until Monday. Today is Thurs 20th January @ 3pm. The invoice was for $8.95 and its to cover the cost of photocopying and forwarding the files. Like I said, im in deseperate need of help for my diabetes and no one can help me!!
Ive never been happy with the service of the staff behind the counter at the medical clinic. Everytime Ive called they have all been rude, they have very poor customer service and dont make me feel welcome at all!
I have attended this medical centre on several occassions during the last 18 months out of standard business hours as other local practice's are closed. During that time I can only state that some of the medical staff are quite good and 20.00% you would pass as just average. The recent times where I've had to pay an additional $30.00 to obtain a scrip for standard medication is a disgrace I dont object to paying a fee above the schedule fee say $10 - $15 but $30 is over the top. Even if you pay this fee you cannot have an appointment and if you want a certain Dr you could wait up to 90 minutes. I will find another practice that will charge less or may bulk bill where I can have my current history transferred. These additional charges are just greed and we have all seen that during the last year where CEO's get rich and us workers get hit hard in the pocket.
My family have found all the GPs to be as good as can be expected for a buik billing clinic, and some doctors are exceptional, although they recently stopped bulk billing.
If you want to wait for a specific doctor, you may, but the wait could be more than 20 minutes. If you don't care who you see, the wait is usually only 15 minutes. This is because they usually have 4 or more doctors on at once. Unlike many other clinics with only 1 or 2 doctors when you have to wait an hour.
I complained about the change to up front fees and the doctors explained that they were forced to see patients far to quickly to turn over enough to pay all the costs of the clinic. But now that they charge more, they feel they can give proper care to the patients. I can't argue with that.
I agree with Steve regarding the queing the doctors are Ok but they used to bulkbill now they charge $63 for a 5 minute visit . the $30 that steve mentioned and then the rebate from medicare on top of that....I will be looking for a doctor who either bulk bills or charges a reasonable amount like $15 on top of medicare. this clinic does bulkbill healthcare card holders as most clinics do.
An up front cost of $30 taken before seeing doctor. Bad luck if all you wanted was a script renewal for a regular medicine. Would be much improved if they took the $30 after the service had been provided rather than forcing you to part with your hard earned cash then sit for an indefinite amount of time.
They would also benefit from a visual queuing system to allow the patient to know approximately how long they may have to wait to see a doctor.
Most GP's are pretty good but try to see the same one each time for more personal treatment.
Pathology and X-ray are excellent.
Don't bother with the Dentists (expensive) or the physio. There are other more caring physio's and dentistsin the district
