You have to venture downstairs to this little Japanese gem on York street, but once you do it's very cosy and cute. Plenty of kitschy Japanese decorations are very pleasing on the eye, and the service is friendly and warm - even if the waitresses sometimes forget things and may take a while to take your order. It's BYO and pretty decently priced, though if you tend to over order you could be in trouble when the bill comes. The dinner boxes (including the vegetarian one) are a good option if you're hungry, and the sashimi is fresh and tasty. Dishes like the spider roll (soft shell crab sushi) come out of the kitchen looking like works of art and are very cute indeed. Careful when venturing to the loos though, you'll have to get a waitress to escort you through the narrow kitchen, where the floor can get pretty slippery after a few glasses of BYO booze.
