    Our hot water system died whilst Fallon Services were at our home relocating an air con. The air con job took a total of three days over the course of a week to complete. Our initial contact for the air con was promising and first visit was fine. The original technician injured himself so was off sick on the second day, which I found out when I called the office to confirm why no one was there at the agreed time for the visit.

    Gave the company the benefit of the doubt, injured worker, handover given, however I am now questioning how this has impacted the overall amount of time required to complete the air con job. We were advised that there was an issue with the original installation which required more work and we acknowledge that.

    The technicians, all three that attended were great, informative.

    When the hot water service went on the last day technician had a look at it but not being qualified obviously couldn't do anything.

    I called Fallon Services to book someone in to come if not that day then the next day. I spoke to someone who I have since been advised is the office management. I was of the belief that the job was booked for the next day and confirmed this with technician who expressed concern about us not having water that evening.

    I called the office today as no one had arrived at 12.30. Having been told the technician who would come had a job at Thornlands I expected they would come in the afternoon.

    I spoke to staff who was lovely on the phone and extremely helpful trying to sort out the issue when staff advised that there was no booking in the system for me. After advising that they could have someone out today that wasn't possible due to me needing to do school pick up and rearranged kids activities from the past two days related to the air con.

    Staff then advised me that the job had been booked for the 16th. I expressed my disbelief with this as I have no hot water and wouldn't wait that long. Staff was kind enough to provide me with the enquiries email address when I requested contact details to address my dissatisfaction to.

    After organising another company to attend tomorrow prepared with a replacement hot water system if required, I received a call back from office management.

    I was further incensed when staff advised me in a very patronising tone that the job was booked for tomorrow and never agreed for today. I advised that I was never told that and was confident that we had agreed on today as I would not agree to wait 2 days with no hot water and we would have to agree to disagree.

    Having worked in customer service roles and managed scheduling and service teams I was astounded that staff would think that calling me to tell me I was wrong and not even considering or suggesting a miscommunication had occurred, is the best way to deal with an obvious mishap. The empathy shown by staff at our situation, i.e. no hot water for 2 days with small children was not displayed by other staff at all.

    I have no confidence that the job was even booked having been told it wasn't booked, then it was but for the 16th, and then no it was tomorrow.

    The issues with the air con job and different technicians, lack of communication re injured worker and late to turn up we overlooked and were willing to give the company more business, however my experience today has exacerbated issues I had put down to matters out of our control when dealing with this kind of work, i.e. encountering problems with installation, equipment issues and problems with getting the gas back into the air con etc, staff being sick - as a management I know businesses have no control over that.

    I will never use Fallon Services again and will be sharing my experience. Considering as of this morning we would most likely have spent close to $4000 in a week for their services if the hot water system needed replacing, they've lost a little bit, however word of mouth can be much more powerful.

      Justin had a suspected Hernia. He called from home and briefed next tech on the job status. No charge was levied for this. Justin is a licenced air con tech. For the hot water job a lic. plumber and lic. electrician were booked. The system shows this was booked for two days later. Chris says we were busy when you were available and she thought you understood the timing of the job. We apologise for the communication error.

      The next day when you called, Pam had trouble finding your job as it booked under a different name. Pam tried to get technicians to you the same day but was only able to do that during your school run. That was not suitable and you booked another company to complete the works for you. Again sorry about the communication issues.

    I needed to have an electrician look at my TV due to receiving a poor signal on one channel and to make minor changes to my surround sound settings. When the electrician arrived I informed them that I wanted a quote for the work, this was not forthcoming. I asked them to have a look at a powerpoint needing replacing and was informed that they couldn't do that work as they were not a qualified electrician. The tv only required a new antenna cable 5min, and the consultant spent 45 minutes changing settings on the amplifier only to finish with the settings the same as they were previously. The total cost was $230 for a job that could have taken 15 minutes. I will never use this company again. Not happy !!!

      When you booked the job you asked for TV Reception work to be completed so we sent a specialist in that area. If you had notified us that you needed a licenced electrician we could have sent a person with those skills. Sorry but we do not offer free quotes. The technician was on site from 9.47 till 11.06 and charged 1 hour + parts + service call. He used his signal meter to test the reception on the upstairs TV and found the fly lead was faulty and replaced that in 15 minutes. The rest of the time was spent on the AV surround sound at your request. The system had a combination of analogue and digital inputs but would not allow assignment of a HDMI input to the game selection button. It took time to assess this and due to the limitations of the AV surround sound system it would not integrate with the new system. Our technician is highly skilled and used his skills to allow you to understand that the solution you desired was not possible. kind regards Fallon Services.

    I had to replace my gas hot water system as it broke Sunday night. Monday morning 7am I rang and received terrific service, to be able to have a serviceman out within a few hours to discuss which heater is suitable and then he went and picked it up and came back later in the day to install, plus bring the other fittings up to standard (where another serviceman hadn't bothered to)... Jon D was a friendly bloke who was extremely thorough. I"ll be recommending this service and particularly Jon. Thanks

    Made me wait for 4 hours to have someone ring at the last minute saying they did not know how to fix the Rheem hot water system I have - so I take a day off work to be here for them for nothing - dont you think they could have worked that out 4 hours earlier or the day before when I booked it - now have to go another 24 hours without hot water!!!! thanks for nothing
    Rheem is a very common hot water system you would think if they were any good at plumbing!!!! they would know how to fix them - go somewhere else they are a waste of time!

      I have spoken to Julie in the office and Dave our plumber. They told me that Dave gave you a call to say he was on the way to attend your job. You mentioned on the phone that the Rheem Integrity 24 gas hot water system had an LH error. He said that he did not know of that problem and would have to attend site to understand more. You told him not to attend site because he did not know what he was doing and you abused our tradesman. We returned your call from the office at which time you became abusive again. Our staff googled the error message on the Rheem website and there was no information. Unfortunately we would have to attend site to determine the fault. We have not planned to return at this stage and if you wish us to attend site please call. kind regards Fallon Services

    Very disappointing service. The tradesmen was limited with his communications....probably needs a little instruction on customer service.
    Was told that would call back once parts were ordered, but it was only after I left two messages that I finally could arrange an appt to fix my washing machine after 2.5 weeks. Also the the tradesmen was over one hour late for a scheduled appointment. This whole experience left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

      Hi Andrea. I checked the system. You called and booked a job with us on 1/12/12 and agreed to have Adrian attend on 7/12/12. He arrived at 7.32am for a 7.30am job. He would have told you parts take up to 10 working days to arrive. We called you at 3.05 on 11/12 and left message on mobile to say parts had arrived. We booked with you on the 12/12/12 to fit parts on the Saturday 15/12. We attended in the morning from 10am for about 1 hour. On Saturdays we do not offer time slots as we only have one technician on duty covering the whole city. We may have estimated a time if we were asked but this is affected by jobs as they arise. I have provided your feedback to Adrian who was surprised as he said you seemed very happy on site.

    I just wanted to say a big thankyou.
    Thankyou for restoring my faith in Tradesmen.
    Justin came for a call out to have a look at my broken Airconditioner. Justin was very professional and forthcoming with information.
    At the end of the day I paid a tenth of what I could of and I put this down to Justin.
    Justin told me it was most likely the compressor (buy a whole new AC sigh!) that had blown in the unit but it could also be the Capacitor.
    It was the Capacitor. $100 fix.
    I will definatley be recommending your services again.

    We are very pleased with the service offered by Brendan after we had a sewage back up in my home.

    At all stages in the process, he was friendly, courteous and had confidence and experience in fixing the plumbing problem. You could tell he was committed to his company and his job.

    It was a stressful day for our family but we were comforted in the fact knowing the problem was being handled by an expert such as Brendan. After the job was finished he offered to help move our furniture which was a nice touch.

Also used plumbing service for a water emergency and a burst pipe. Job done well with no dramas. Touch wood we have no more emergencies or major work to do, but if we did do we'd defo use again.

    My Mother In Law was having trouble with both her washing machine and her dish washer (both only just out of warranty of course!) and came to me for help after she'd called two repair companies. Neither had returned her call and as I am pretty useless with this sort of work I recommended she try the Fallon company. Well, was I right!! The customer service was fast, freindly and professional....they responded almost immediately, were very patient with my elderly Mother In Law and fixed the problems within an hour. The price they had quoted was what she had to pay and was very reasonable. Its great to know there's a company out there with "Old World" ethics and service. Well done Fallon! Brian C

    I have a commercial building on the southside of brisbane that had a leaking tap. Neil T Fallon came out and fixed my problem in in a 2 hr turn around time. I found this to be really good service as if the problem was not sorted out quickly alot of my stock would have been damaged. I was pleasently surprised when the bill came and it was less than what I expected it to be. I will be uses Neil T Fallon next time for aure.

    Fallon arrived the very next day and the electrician was pleasant and efficient. You don't want "just anyone" entering your home, and I trust this company. The work was done for the quoted price, and that quote was competitive. Next time, I will use them to service the air conditioning, which given the fast approach of summer, should be soon.

    Called Neil T Fallon about a failing hot water tempering valve. The lady on the phone was very helpful and said it would be a standard fee of $225 for replacement.

    Since we're also looking into installing a gas cooker in the house, we arranged to get a guy out to give us a quote on that. He also verbally quoted the tempering valve replacement at $225 ($185 parts + $40 labor).

    Today, we finally got the valve replaced and were charged $317! They'd snuck in a $83 "service fee".

    For me, it's not the extra cost that's the problem. Very unethical. Surely either the tradesman, or the receptionist could have mentioned the extra charge?

    If you must use them, make sure you get a written quote first!

    I initially had them come out to do a routine service on 2 of our fujitsu air cons.

    One of our units was not working too well (not responding well to the remote) so was told that we should replace in indoor board for a couple of hundred dollars. A month later the air con stopped working and so called them to have them replace the indoor board.

    We were told that they had to come out and diagnose it properly. WE said that it is likely the indoor board and would prefer to take the risk that we got it wrong as the doagnosis call out was going to cost $100 little less then the replacement board. We were told that they cannot do this, but assured us that the price of the diagnosis would be taken from the overall cost.

    So, they came out, and said that they couldn't be sure which board it was (indoor or outdoor), so we would probably have to replace both - quote to follow. A week later - no quote. 2 weeks later, no quote so I called them and was told that they will send it out. After another week I rang and was gven a verbal that it would probably be about $1000 for both boards, quote to follow.

    Needless to say, no quote ever arrived. I gave up with this company and was just left with an aircon which was not even put back together after their 'investigation'. This was over a year ago, but thought I would comment after having read other similar stories here. AVOID!

    Overall I cannot recommend Neit T Fallon to other consumers.

    The overall experience is less than satisfactory and they appear to overcharge for the service provide.

    So far I have paid for:

    A quote on airconditioning repairs - new boards required

    Paid a 10% deposit on accepting the quote to repair the airconditioner.
    Waited for the parts to arrive - then been advised that further repairs and parts would be required.

    Partially paid for the "repairs" and parts "installed" on the day - after objecting that the unit was still not working.

    and will now have to pay for a further callout and parts.

    The quote also does not itemise the cost for parts and repair time. Have I paid for a 2 hr installation when it was only 1 hr???

    All of the time the company does not recognise that the air conditioner is still not working - which was the orginal reason for request for their services.

    The company needs to clearly explain upfront to its customers what the charges for callouts will be and how they continuously want payment for incomplete jobs. Once they have you on the hook - it is difficult to go to another more professional & reasonable company.

    No doubt the company will jump onto this post to defend their business practices and attempts to provide customer service.

      Thank you for your feedback and you are correct it is important that we respond to your online review. I have spoken to the air conditioning team and your job is now completed. Our first visit is not a quote. It is a service call to diagnose the problems with the unit. We do take a 10% deposit on parts orders. Finally when we diagnose the fault, we must find the best compromise between taking a long time and incurring high charges for a customer in looking at all possible components and whether they failed or using our best judgement as to what the fault(s) is knowing that in less than 5% of cases a second fault could have occurred that was not detected. This is in most cases more cost effective option for the customer. I do understand that it can be frustrating for you and apologise for that frustration. Kind regards Fallon Services.

    I called Fallon to look at a hot water service low pressure problem with some trepidation given the negative reviews on this site. I expected delays and protracted problems in getting things sorted. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the service was prompt (same morning), coordinated (call backs to ensure the time to call was suitable), friendly and professional. I did not receive dubious advice to replace parts or the entire the hot water system, instead I had the pressure valve stripped and serviced on the spot and the job finished within 30 mins. I will be using Fallon for my future requirements.

    I have been without my air-con for over 3 weeks now which is rather unpleasant when you are heavily pregnant, its the peak of summer and you have 3 other young children in the house. I find it extremely poor organisation and service that after the call out to assess the problem, just organising a quote for repairs can take over two weeks and multiple phone calls on my part and now I STILL need to wait for them to go ahead and order the part!!! They keep blaming the fact that suppliers are closed over Christmas - fair enough at Christmas, but they all would have re-opened no later than the 9th January if not earlier being a service industry, it really shouldn't take that long to organise a simple quote - it is only a few phone calls or emails after all - a day or two at most . God only knows how long it will now take to actually order & receive the part, then install it. I will probably be busy having my baby then & it will be delayed even further. Very disappointing, very frustrating and not at all what you expect from a large well known company.

      Yes that is me, I did finally receive the quote yesterday at 458pm after a two week wait. In the time between phoning again yesterday morning at about 930am and receiving your quote I managed to get 3 other quotes with a few hours from other companies. At most a quote should take only a few days, I really felt like just a number and that my business was unimportant to you. I should have twigged earlier to go somewhere else.

      Unfortunately at the office level, we lost our key air conditioning scheduler on 11 Jan. We sourced casual help immediately, but this does not replace the years of experience our scheduler had. I know it is no excuse but may help you understand why we failed to order your part quickly in this instance. I understand your frustration and once again apologise. One of our previous staff is returning full time on 31 Jan which will fix things again.

      We are proud of our normally excellent service levels and the fact that we have traded for 50 years, last year having completed over 21,000 jobs with 76% of those jobs being completed for repeat clients.

    We called Neil.T Fallon on the 19th September 2011 regarding our SMEG oven Model No. SA 398x/1, as one of the heating elements wasnt working. They advised that staff would be sent out and the element would be replaced. They informed us that a heating element needed to be ordered and they would call us with an estimate. They never called us back, we had to call them for an estimate.

    Their estimate included more labour costs in the amount of $65, a service call fee of $75, plus the element cost of $147. We called the Albion Appliance centre for a price on the part and their price was only $90, $57 cheaper than Neil T. Fallon.

    Do they honestly believe its fair to charge someone $137.50 to be told their oven wasnt working! We already knew one of the heating elements was not working... I understand times are tough but charging someone $137.50 to tell them their oven is not working is ridiculous. Not to mention over charging for parts.

    I sent in a letter of complaint and was basically told tough luck from the rude staff.

      I am sorry about your disappointment with our service. We did not charge you $137.50 to tell you that your stove did not work. We sent out a qualified and trained electrician in a fully stocked service vehicle to diagnose what the problem was with your Oven. We have learned from experience over the last 50 years that many householders call with good intentions and tell us the problem with electrical equipment but in many cases they have only told us part of the story. It is essential that we diagnose the problem to ensure we repair the equipment safely and we take into account other issues that could be involved. We hold safety as our highest priority.

      We sent a long email apologising about the confusion with the estimate we provided you the next day and offering a full refund so I am not sure why you posted this on TL. Please contact us to organise the refund.

    Based on these reviews I used Fallon to check on my Fujitsu Air conditioner.

    The technician arrive the morning (Tues 21st) as arranged and advised that a Gecko had been fried on a board and that board (and maybe the other two) would need replacing. I requested a quote and they phoned the request and info on the conditioner to the office. They advised that I should hear from them that afternoon.
    I rang back on Thurs, the parts staff was on lunch and would call me back; they didn't.
    I rang again the following week (Thurs 30th) and again left a message. This time the person rang me back and said that they would need to speak to the engineer for the details, despite me hearing them pass the information back to the office when they were here. Not heard back since.
    It is now 2 weeks since the engineer came round - time to find another air conditioning company/engineer.

    Lost half of our house in the floods. As the gas hot water system went underwater I was told I would need a compliance certificate to get the gas reconnected. Called Fallon to organise for this to occur. Told the person on the phone what I was requiring and why - I was never informed that the gas would need to be on for them to do this. Organised appointment for next day - 10am-12pm - At 2pm I called and asked if we would be seeing a gasfitter that day - was told that he was running late and would be at our premises shortly. At 5pm I received a phone call to advise that they wouldn't be attending that day, but at 7am the next day. Next morning at 7am a very young man arrived to ensure that all would be safe for reconnection. He told me that he couldn't do anything until the gas was on - used my garden hose to clean the mud off the elements and sprayed some WD40 onto it and told me to call back when gas was connected and he would come back. When I asked if the return was included in the cost he advised me that NO - I would have to pay for it again - $192 lost... I was very unhappy with the service and the attitude. I called another gasfitter, he came out, he had to clean out the whole system again (this time properly) and ensured that APA group would be out that day to get the gas on - once this was done, he came back out, managed to get our hot water system up and running, and reattended the next day to ensure that it was all working - all this for $77. I will never recommend Fallon to anyone - and regret paying for sub-standard works.

      Before we went to site we were not aware that the gas supply had been disconnected. If we had been informed that the supply had been disconnected, we could have delayed our visit and only visited once. We would have completed our checks, clean, purged the gas system and reignited the gas hot water system. WD40 is used to displace any remaining water and reduce corrosion. Rheem now recommends that the majority of submerged units should be replaced. We were on site for over an hour and you were advised at the time we were not prepared to put anyoneâ??s safety at risk by offering a compliance certificate for the system without testing and running the appliances. It could also jeopardize our licence as we advised your next gas fitter and is probably the reason he returned for a second visit for free. No-one charges $77 for 1.5 hours work. The young man you refer to is a fully licenced gas fitter with over 5 years experience.

      Questioning a customerâ??s honesty is not a good way to build good will. We *were* charged $77. Maybe businesses with a compassionate attitude towards flood victims charge these rates.

    This company is the worst company i have ever had at my home, i will never use them again.
    They are over priced, they dont turn up when they are asked to, and having spoken to one staff member he was extremly rude and slammed the phone down on me

      Unfortunately we are not sure who you are or whether you are a customer or competitor.

      If we have made a mistake, I apologise for that and would sincerely like to rectify the issue. Please contact the office so that we can try to help you with the issue. Our office hours are 7am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 7am till 12pm on Saturday.

      We have traded for 48 years and complete 20,000 jobs a year. We would not be still trading if we regularly treated customers the way you describe. We also conduct regular customer satisfaction surveys and find that our customers on average are extremely happy with our service.

      We do make the occasional mistakes and do we offer a 12 month warranty and are happy to rectify issues under that warranty.

      We take arriving at the agreed appointment time frame very seriously so we track all of our vehicles with satellite navigation and we book jobs into an computer scheduling system so we can manage that as well as possible.

    I got a quote to get air-conditioning units installed. Accepted the quote and had the installation done. That was fine. However, during the process of doing the installation they found that the main board was too small and that the mains into the house would need to be upgraded as well as the fact that the earthing wasn't good. I asked if I could get a quote to have this work done as well. I was told one would be provided. It wasn't. I asked again, it wasn't. Called and asked if someone could get in contact. They didn't. Bit of a shame because the work until then had been fine.

    Was happy with the repair to my washing machine until I realised I had been billed for the time the technician went driving around to get a part. Would much prefer someone that is well stocked before they arrive. Also the change in tone when I called to make the booking and when I called to query the invoice was disappointing - not so friendly once they have your money.

      Hi Sassa I am sorry that you were unhappy with the service provided and the 15 minutes it took the technician to travel to the supplier to buy the part so the job could be completed immediately for you. We cannot carry the stock for every make and model of washing machine and dishwasher in the vans as there are hundreds of brands and models of appliances. Also in many cases stock is only held by the suppliers interstate and can take over one week to order. Our technicians try to carry stock for the common brands and the value of stock carried is over $10,000 per van. In this case we did not have the part on board but luckliy we could quickly obtain the part for you and get the appliance working again without having to charge for a return visit at a separate time.

    I was really happy with this company. I was able to organise a number of jobs I needed doing (electrical and plumbing) at once with the lady I spoke to in the office and each tradesperson was profressional, neat and courteous and arrived within the agreed time period. I'll definately use Fallons again. It felt really reassuring to use a professional company for trades work as I knew their work was guaranteed.
