Nestled on the shores of Pittwater, Sydney's Northern beaches have one of Sydneys most historic pubs, The Newport Arms. In recent years, the pub has undergone a complete refurbishment to keep up with the fast pace Sydney lifestyle. As well as bars which include local and imported beers, to cocktails, this pub now has three separate food outlets and restaurants.

This place is a bit of an institution around the Northern Beaches, and if you happen to be in the area, you should definitely check it out. The food is really average pub food, and not all that cheap either, so I think if you're looking for a meal there are probably better options around, but if it's a few casual drinks with gorgeous water views you're after, this is a really good, relaxed spot. The beer garden is absolutely massive, and most of the tables have great views of the water, so this is your best bet. Looks-wise, the place isn't much. Despite being one of the oldest pubs in Sydney, these days it's a bit of a super-pub and so it's got none of that old-pub character you might be hoping for. There are enclosed playground areas for kids (yep, plural it really is a genuinely huge pub) and a big screen TV in the beer garden that mostly plays sports. They have regular live music, and though I've never been there for it, apparently its good fun. All in all, it's not the Ritz, but it doesn't try to be, and it's loved fiercely for what it is a casual, unpretentious drinking hole with a pretty outlook and a relaxed vibe.

A favourite spot to spend a weekend with friends, great views of pittwater and the food is always good, perfect for families with kids too as the outdoor area is huge.

After rowing surf boats up at Palm Beach one beautiful Sunday's day, the crew went down to Newport Arms. hungry, tired, fatigued you name it, after rowing hard all up for 30mins and carrying boats around for half that we were in looking for a good feed. The live music that played was great and made us a tad less hungry but that only brought about a large appetite which was fulfilled by these absolutely stunning burgers and chips.

I headed up to Newport Arms Hotel for an Australia Day lunch with a group of friends and i was pleasantly surprised. It proclaims to have one of the largest beer gardens, so it was quite easy to find a place to fit 20 people to a table! The food is a bit more expensive than you may pay elsewhere (i.e. $18.95 fish and chips) but the side salad is made up of more than just lettuce and the meal was quite filling. There was a mixup with our order not being entered correctly, but this was quickly resolved.
Very friendly atmosphere- definately worth the drive.

Perched on a bluff overlooking picturesque Pittwater since 1880, the Newport Arms is a northern beaches institution. It may be home to Australia’s largest waterfront beer garden, but you’ll be battling the peninsula locals for an outdoor table here on a sunny summer’s day. There’s three food outlets, including a fine dining restaurant, and more than 18 beers on tap. It’s a great spot for families too, with a playground to amuse the kiddies.
