Nick's Seafood Restaurant has become somewhat of a Sydney institution over the last decade since opening its doors in 1998. With Nick's years of experience in the seafood wholesale business, it does not surprise anyone that Nick's Seafood Restaurant is the leader in fresh and high quality seafood produce in Sydney.
Everyday our produce is carefully sourced by our group of expert buyers at the Sydney Fish Markets. The menu contains an array of fresh fish, oysters, crustaceans and lobsters. Our chef's enhance the flavours, with the food showcasing natural flavours and simplicity.
Overlooking the shores of Cockle Bay and Darling Harbour, Nick's Seafood Restaurant has all that a delectable seafood dining experience should... Fresh seafood, professional service with breathtaking panoramic oceans views of Darling Harbour.
Hubby took me here as I love seafood. However, apart from the lovely service and location everything else was pretty meh. Nick's Seafood Restaurant is basically a glorified fish & chips shop. It happens to be in Darling Harbour which allows them to whack a 500% mark up on all their items. I ordered the Tempura Prawns, hubby the Grilled Salmon. Both came with 'hand cut hot potato chips' and 'salad'. Well the chips weren't hot or hand cut and the salad was a couple of leaves sprinkled with olive oil. The chips were cold, out of a packet and didn't even have salt on them. My prawns were fresh, but that was it. Not seasoning, no crunchy tempura batter and the sauce given with it was not enough for half of my plate. Hubby's meal left him hungry and wanting more. For the average of $40 per main I would not recommend this place. What's more, the ambience is really lacking. Full of pretentious and loud locals and tourists alike, this is not the place you want to (or can) be getting good seafood from.
I love seafood but it's very important for it to be prepared correctly. I can assure you that this place is one of the best restaurants in Sydney - the hygiene is on a very high level and everything is always fresh.
Staff were really lovely, however to me it was an overpriced fish n chip shop, you really do pay for the location. Would not return, there was nothing that I could not have picked up myself from the fish markets and with a little imagination cooked at home.
Great setting right on Cockle bay. The freshest seafood and salads around (and some naughty chips for some). Fantastic whole snapper which is superb, great and reasonably priced wine list. Nicks is a terrific place for a quick business lunch or a more lengthy casual affair over a couple of bottles of your favourite. Waiters all very professional. Best value on Cockle bay
