What an ordinary experience. We went here last night for my husband's work do, which was booked about a month ago. They didn't provide the right amount of chairs for our party, which was the first problem. We arrived at 7.30pm, and ordered our food by 8pm. We did not receive our meals until 9.40pm and 1 meal was missing. We then had a 30 minute wait for it. Meals cost us between $30 and $40 each and were disappointing to say the least. No vegetables offered with the steaks, chicken or fish, only salad and it appeared to be the mesculin salad bought in packets at Coles & Woolies. No presentation, and the barramundi was tasteless with no seasoning at all.
Of the dessert order, 2 were missing out of 10 orders, and 4 coffees were forgotten and never arrived despite asking for them twice. The staff were unhelpful, and the service non-existent (we had to collect our meals from the kitchen on trays as there was no table service). We were told that we should be thankful we weren't there on a busy night, but the place was full and rowdy. A fight started to break out at the bar when my husband and his colleague where buying drinks. Not to be recommended, and never to return.

It's always been a great place to eat. The hotel has attracted a more sophisticated crowd over recent years but still stays true to its roots of friendly customer service and classic aussie hotel atmosphere. The reason I left out half a star was the steaks. They have been a little bit tough of late. The sides are amazing. Thank you Norman Hotel :-D

worst restaurant experience in my life! we took a group of 6 here on a Friday night, we found the staff very rude and un helpful, and to top it off when we were leaving someone from a private function threw a glass that narrowly missed my wife and her friend, when we complained to the bouncer they couldn't do anything about it, so we spoke to the management who refused to confront the people, then told them we wouldn't be dining here again.

Oh and I just about forgot to mention the microwaved steaks, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

A 'patron' threw a glass at you, not the restaurant. A scathing review that seems unjustified IMO. Why did you get a glass thrown at you in the first place?

Your comment about the 'microwave' steaks... did you see the 2x3 metre grill in the kitchen? The fresh steaks in the cabinet when you ordered? Please keep your comments factual.

Good value. Really great food! And they have Fat Yak, my favorite beer, which goes really well with steak.

    G'day Guys

Hey if ya ever in Brissy pop into the Norman Hotel, I went there on the weekend for a social media conference & it was a great venue. We had lunch & the 120 day grain feed rump steak was awesome & juicy! it had some huge spuds on the side as I don't eat salad so thanks guys.

It was washed down with local beer of course & I'd go again as the staff were very friendly.

    Cheers & catch ya later.

One of the best places for steak. It's sort of al fresco dining but a little bit indoors - either way, it's an ideal restaurant whatever the weather. The meals are huge. Sometimes the steaks are overcooked which is a really big shame. The cocktails are good here too. The wine is very reasonable priced.

One of the best places in Brisbane for steak. The steaks are always cooked exactly to your liking. Prices are very fair. The place is always packed on weekends and busy during the week. The seating area is huge and pokies are also available. Top feed!

Set in one of the finest bastions of old-style Brisbane pubs, this restaurant prides itself on steaks sourced from the Gympie, New England, and Southern Downs, and bills itself as “Brisbane’s worst vegetarian restaurant”. The most popular dish is the eye fillet with mushroom sauce. The steaks are served up in a leafy beer garden that seats 600, and the wine list is a cut above. Mains average: $24.
